Do you think sex is more accepted now because of its prevalence in the media?

There are more and more movies, tv shows, and songs featuring sex these days. Don Jon, Skins, birthday sex.. Do you think that this results in sex being a less taboo topic to talk about today?

The converse may be true: sex may be more prevalent in media because sex is more accepted. Sex has been around in songs for decades. Sex has become more common in TV and in movies because boundaries get pushed over time.

50 Shades of Grey seems to have made non-vanilla perspectives on sex more mainstream. I wonder what effect the upcoming movie will have on mainstream culture.

Nah, it was all over the place in the 1970's too, and the 1990's, even the 1930's (they got a lot past the censors, there's a documentary about it). It was just a bit more coy and less graphic back then. I think the accessibility of the internet and online pornography has influenced pop culture, especially movies, in order to compete with porn.
