I'm in between "they overdo it" and "I don't care one way or the other". I'm so decisive...

I never understood why people harass celebrities. They're just human beings, not deities.
06/16/2011
I do not give a damn about what others do, however, I do not follow such things. I find it unnecessary, I could care less about what's going on in someone's life who is completely unrelated to me.
06/16/2011
I avoid this shit. I do not watch any TV shows that feature celebs or royals and their dramas, I don't go to websites that talk about celebs in detail, I don't read magazines that feature celebs.
It does piss me off when a real major news story is given a few seconds and somebody's sexual indiscretions are given HOURS of news time, though.
I think people who are too interested in "famous people" have something lacking in their own lives. Why is someone else's life more interesting than yours? The only thing to do is make your own life more interesting. Not more drama, but with more fun.

Why do I keep getting double posts? I'm sorry.

I don't like the TMZ type shows or when news outlets cover something that isn't really a story. The only reason they deliver those stories is so they don't miss out on any further breaks that could actually lead to a real story.
Weiner's weiner? NOT a story
Hefner getting married? NOT a story
Unless Tara Reid or Lindsey Lohan are actually working on a project, it's not a story. "OH NO! The do teh drugz!" -- so what? Drugs have been a part of Hollywood AND politics from the very beginning.

I agree that the media overdoes a lot of stuff surrounding celebs and even politicians, but I could really care a less. I don't know any of those people personally, and I could care a less who they are sleeping with or not sleeping with or even why. It's none of anyone's business. It does distress me to see how much infidelity is covered in the news, not because of the infidelity, but because of all the bullshit surrounding "the sanctity of marriage". Are we really going to keep telling the GLBT community that they have no right to get married because it will ruin the institution of marriage, when we have people plastered all over the news, who are straight and "ruining" marriage? Come on. Double standard much?? Past that, I give a damn about Weiner's weiner, you know?
06/16/2011
I think there are people in society who obsess about celeb/politician's sex lives to the point where it's just sad - usually because they're unhappy in their own lives and, of course, the media just feeds into it. I think it's a bit sick the way the media/society elevate those in the public eye to idol status and encourage the public's obsession with them. It's a sickness of our society. That being said, I really don't give a crap what celebs or politicians or sports stars or royalty or whoever do and when and why and with who, blah blah blah - I can think of few things more boring. I do find it sad that some people place soooo much importance on it though and/or use it to till some part of their lives that is lacking, yanno?

I don't usually pay too much attention to it. I think almost everything is getting oversensationalized in the media right now.
06/16/2011
I think the media overdoes everything!
06/16/2011
yes
06/16/2011
I think they put too much of a spotlight on celebrities in general.
06/16/2011
I personality couldn't care less about celebrity sex lives.

love celeb gossip but couldn't care less about their sex bizness

I'm with you - I'm amazed why anyone cares what celebrities think about anything. How does their acting or musical talent make them an authority on anything but their craft? The less I see/hear about them the better I like it.

They definitely over do it
06/17/2011
They definitely overdo it on a very regular basis. I agree 100% with what P'Gell said - it's so sad that a real news story will get glossed over just so a goofy celebrity scandal can be covered in-depth.
06/17/2011
While I do agree it's way overdone and way too much time is put into this stuff, I also readily admit to being way nosy and not being able to help myself sometimes. I won't spend hours searching for someone online, but I'll sit and read through trashy magazines all day lol.
06/17/2011
yes
06/19/2011
I chose 2 answers for many reasons. I chose Yes they overdo it & I don't care. I do think it's far over rated and I honestly cannot understand the obsession with celeb's lives. I have my own to live & I'd much rather be out making my own life rather than sitting on a couch reading or watching someone else's. Now, I chose I don't care, but in one way I do. I care that my children are exposed to so much filth with their lives and privacy is being exploited all over (not that they don't ask for it sometimes.) but I don't want my kids looking up to those kind of people as role models and it's hard to keep them out of sight when you can't even go into the grocery store without seeing it all over the check out lines.

Celebrities and sports stars alike are over sensationalized and over paid (really over paid).
06/26/2011
The news/society makes celebrities more important then they are They are regular people just like you and I and I don't need to know/hear about every sorted detail of their lives and every move that they make. I would be the one in line making a fuss and telling that "celebrity" to take their butts back to the end of it and wait like everyone else in a store.

I agree. Even if you don't care and avoid things like TMZ, you're still bombarded with it (checkout lane at the grocery store, for example).

I feel sorry for some of the celebrities, some of them love attention whether it's good or bad about them, but I'm sure there's a bunch of them out there that hates to be bothered by the media. I never read tabloids, and I change the channel when TMZ or similar shows come up.
06/26/2011
Eurgh. I feel the overdo it. Yes, I like to take an interest in other people's lives, but celebrities? No.
