Comics

Are you a fan of comics?
Personally, I've never quite understood the appeal. Taylor has a stack of "Dawn" comic books that I've read and sort of enjoyed. I liked the Archie comics when I was a kid.
But my brother and some of our friends are all gaga over The X Men and whatnot and when they talk about it, my eyes glaze over.

How about you? Like them, love them or hate them? And where's the sexy?

I collected Richie Rich and Ghost Rider when I was a kid, but wasn't ever a real fanatic over them. The Richie Rich were amusing because of the "gadgets" he always seemed to pull out in a pinch (like a full-sized inflatable cruise ship), and Ghost Rider appealed to me because of the artwork. Neither were sexy though (lol).

I love comic books, from the classics (Little Lulu, Hot Stuff, etc) to newer (Lady Deth & horror comics). Not sure they're sexy, but they're a good break from regular books and a quicker read.

I'm a big Batman fan, have been since I was a kid. Given that his cover was pretending to be a rich playboy, there was lots of sexual innuendo. And most of the female villains either showed a lot of skin, or were completely covered in something skin-tight.

And then there's Catwoman. She oozed more than a little blatant sexuality onto the pages of Batman comics. And who hasn't seen a sexy, skimpy Catwoman costume?

The other comic series I'm a bit of a rabid fan of is ElfQuest, though they're definitely more toward the graphic novel end of the spectrum. The art is beautiful, the stories are great if you like fantasy, and while it's full of sexuality, it's an kind of innocent sexuality because it isn't taboo. Oh yeah, and there's an orgy in book 4. No genitalia, but it's very clear what it is you're seeing.

I'm a fan of Gaiman's The Sandman. I also have several GNs, including the Crow, Gloom Cookie, JTHM but those are all sorta gothy and not traditional comics.

Comics Rule! The biggest appeal that they've always had to me personally was the super villains, even when I was a little kid. The biggest problem with this was that only the super heroes had comic books. For example, I hated the Fantastic Four so bad but, if they were fighting Dr. Doom, I would buy the comic. Even if you are not the slightest bit into comics, who can honestly say that it would not totally kick ass to have: magical powers, your own country, and do whatever the hell you wanted.

I also have a few boxes of adult comics, for those of you who have never checked out the Bondage Fairies, you don't know what you are missing. A few tiny, elf-looking faeries (with wings) that do nothing but have sex with everyone and everything. There was one where the faerie was having sex with a lobster, it was great!

I love comics. My main crack be Johnny the Homicidal Maniac; I also loved The Sandman, X-Men, and all of Neil Gaiman's shorter pieces, like the Mr. Punch story.

I also read manga from time to time, although I'm picky about my manga (and even pickier about my anime). Fushigi Yuugi is my all-time favorite.

Hell yes! I remember Bondage Faeries!!! My husband half thought I was making them up when I told him about them...

Mostly though, I'm a manga gal.

I have a friend that's going to comic con but I've never been interested in comics much. I do like some funny comics but I don't think that is what you're necessarily talking about. But for what its worth, Get Fuzzy is a really funny comic strip!

I used to read Archie in the dentist's office. I grew up with Batman and Spiderman and Hawkeye and such, although I never owned a huge collection of those or went crazy with memorabilia and such the way some people do; I would just read them while I was in the bookstore. I like a good manga from time to time, although I've never been huge on anime.

Currently, I own every issue of Johnny the Homicidal Maniac, plus the Director's Cut, and I plan on buying The Sandman and its supplemental materials some day.

Oh, and if we're talking about comics in general, not just comic BOOKS, I always loved Garfield, Peanuts, Calvin & Hobbes, etcetera.

Make mine Marvel! I'm a fan of Spider-Man, X-Men, Wolverine, Fantastic Four, and to a lesser extent the Avengers, Captain America, and Iron Man. There are also lots of other titles I've read over the years, like Bone, Strangers in Paradise, and Sin City. But I'm a huge sci-fi geek anyway.

I've always been obsessed with comics . . . anyone ever checked out Modern Hooker? I think she's pretty amazing . . .

Comix are sexy, too . . . I used to read "Cherry" which was like a rip-off off Archie and Betty, and use that as fantasy material . . .

Apparently Crumb used to masturbate to his own drawings, which is beautiful . . .

What about sexual comics? I don't mean necessarily erotic comics, but comics that deal with sex. I'm a huge fan of The Devil's Panties and Oglaf.

Both of my guys are heavily into comics, most especially furry type comics. They have tons of the stuff between them. One is into giantess type comics and the other would probably get a real kick out of bondage fairies!

I'm not as into them and prefer erotica of the hardcore variety without lots of pictures, strokes the imagination more in my case.

I am a big fan of the Laurel K Hamilton Anita Blake series which they turned into a comic. The books get to be pretty steamy, so I'm looking forward to seeing how those comics progress..

I love comics! I really don't like erotic comics at all. I go to Comic Con every year. My favorites are The Tick, Scott Pilgrim, and The Sandman. My favorite manga are Chobits, Rurouni Kenshin, xxxHolic (which is not X-rated at all!), Shrine of the Morning Mist, and Chrono Crusade. I did go to K Books when I was in Japan last year, which specializes in hentai (erotic) manga. You can get hentai manga in the US-Kinokuniya bookstores do carry them.

I'm a big comics fan, and am glad to see the attention that comics are getting as literature.

My favorites currently include Batman, Green Lantern, Spider-man titles, as well as Hawkeye and Mockingbird, Captain America, and the Stand and Oz adaptations that Marvel is putting out.

I love comics. I was raised in that kind of environment; my mother is big on Star Trek and renaissance fairs, my father is big on Star Wars and comics, my dad and brother are both into D&D (my dad the old school stuff and my brother the modern versions). Anyway, I ended up as an eclectic hodgepodge of it all and I would love conventions if not for the insane crowds. Not that that keeps me from going, of course

I love reading the Sunday comics. It's a time when I can relax and not think too much. Other than, I do not read comic books. However, I was introduced to "Maus I" and I loved that book so much that I read "Maus II." It was very interesting and profound, and I love anything that has to do with WWII.

I go to the local cons, can't find the time/money to go to the big ones. I got to meet Stan Lee last year, definitely a bucket list item!

One of my friends just got Stan Lee to sign an Iron Man comic, I was so jealous. I live on the other side of the country or else I'd have gone with her I'm planning on going to the San Diego Comic Con next year but the only comic convention I've been to to date it a small one in Michigan.
