Shortbus is a movie from a director/writer I really like, John Cameron Mitchell. Has anyone seen this movie yet?
Anyone see this movie?

I haven't but I've heard it has some mixed reviews. I'm getting Netflix for a class (I have to review a ton of documentaries on human rights) and may rent this one out while I'm at it.

Its one of the few non-porn movies where the actors actually have sex on camera

I haven't heard of this one. Going to check it out on Netflix

That alone makes it worth seeing! I always think those actors/ess who do sex scenes should go ahead and have sex anyways. Might as well have a fun day at work in my opinion.

It's been recommended to me, and I have it. I just don't have the time to watch movies, so it remains unwatched.

Its in my Netflix queue now. It looks interesting, although it only has three stars.

This is one of my favorite movies of all time. Beautiful artistic film that does a great interpretation of human interactions and emotion through sex. I highly recommend it to anyone.

Nope, haven't seen it yet, but would love to see it.

I've seen it. It was sort of funny ... not altogether very funny, but funny in parts. Although, to be fair to the film, it was billed to me as a comedy romance, and that sort of movie already starts in the negative, for me. As to the real sex thing (in non-porn movies) I'm kind of used to that, so I don't really count it as a highlight of this particular film.

No...but real sex on camera? I'm in!

I think that could open a very unpleasant can of worms (actors who do sex scenes actually having sex with their co-workers.) It isn't pornography, and what about the actor's partners, wives, husbands etc? What about sexually transmitted diseases and pregnancy?

It sounds like a very high risk and very dangerous thing to do in regular film.
Porn is a different story, as everyone, including the actor and his or her partner in real life know that sex with others will be happening. Many porn models can prepare themselves for these situations, but we should not expect good, well trained actors in regular movies to engage in such behavior on screen.

I haven't seen it.

@P'Gell: The sex scenes in the film used protection, if the actors weren't already a couple. (The opening scene has a lot of PIV, but they used female condoms so the condom was hidden from view.) The actors workshopped for months (as in, came up with the plot) and knew what they were in for. And like I said, some of the couples were already together in real life.
Read up on the making of the movie if you want. There are a lot of sleazebags looking to take advantage of young actors, but this movie was not one of them.
Oh, and it's a good movie, yeah.
