So I have an interest in this topic because I know a lot of teachers (elementary, middle and high school teachers). It just happened to be a popular career path to follow for many of my friends and family members when they graduated. So I notice when the news reports teachers fired or suspended due to inappropriate relationships with students and I pay attention when I hear community members talking about local teachers getting into trouble for things they are doing with students. And I see things on the internet constantly (it seems) in so many areas where this is happening. Here are my questions to spark discussion:
Does it seem like more teachers are having inappropriate sexual relationships with minor students now than before (like even 10-15 years ago)?
Some of my family members say that these things did happen when they were in school too but the teachers just didn't get caught. Do other people agree with this?
Or is it because the teachers are teaching school younger now? so they are closer in age with the students? (except for the lower grades obviously)
Are people/teachers less concerned now with morals? or are they just more concerned with satisfying their own needs?
What role do you think social media has in it? (if at all)
I would love to hear everyone's thoughts on this topic!! Thanks!!
