Unicorns- That special category of women that want sex and not the relationship!

After browsing the forum this morning, I realized that some of the women here do not seem to be aware of what a Unicorn is. A free woman that wants sex, and is comfortable enough in her body to explore. They are as rare and beautiful as a unicorn.

These days there are a lot of clubs that are woman centric. You get to look and act as sexy as possible without it being necessary a "meat market." Pleasure Zone is one. The environment is designed specifically to make women both safe and sexy. Men need a female escort, but women can attend alone or with a female. (Although I admit that I once managed to get two men in with some shennigans.)

Once there, you set the rules. You can dance, kiss, play or end up leaving with someone. Most of the clubs are not sex-clubs per say. Although in the sex clubs the rule is often the same. Males need escorts. If you are curious about your sexuality- bisexual, bi-curious or especially a threesome. If you just want to get laid, it's a great opportunity. You never know what may come out of it. Especially since you can set the rules and walk away.

From a safety perspective it's better than bars. Most of the people that attend are highly conscious of all aspects of safety and find it automatic. You don't have to argue about condoms for example. (At sex clubs- condoms are all over the place.)

Let's talk about unicorns. Unicorn can be used to describe a wide variety of things, sexuality wise. It can mean a couple who waited to have sex until

Dildo Unicorn
I got a head mounted dildo in the mail today, and I felt the need to share this photo (it's not how it's meant to be worn, but I think it's awesome)

Are unicorn horn dildos an abomination? Also, does dildos have an e in it? Is it dildoes? Either way spell check doesn't like it.
link Honestly, I'm not normally judgmental but it's weird.

It's official.

I'm a Unicorn.

I've was in committed relationships, one after another (including a 8.5 year marriage) from age 15 until just this Sept. The problem I find is that more and more people I meet are looking for a relationship when that is the LAST thing I want. Men and women alike don't seem to understand that I finally feel free and just want to explore my own sexuality for a while.

Seriously - I need to find one of these clubs. Thanks DBD! I'm on a hunt now.

I was a Unicorn until this year, since one of my resolutions for 2009 was to stop avoiding relationships. (I've used my "unicorn status" to replace an actual relationship, and I'm just now realizing that it's because I'm scared of commitment.) So I "broke up" with all of my FWB.

Stupid stupid STUPID idea, and damn my will, I won't turn back! Leave it to me to break up with all of my FWB when I'm going to be home and basically alone for a month. Oi.

So, how would I go about finding a club like this in my area?

I envy women who are or who at some point in their lives have been Unicorns. I have always wanted that sort of life for myself. I want to explore, to play, to just have a good romp with strangers without any strings attached--but I can't. I am a very emotionally charged person and I can't be physically close to anyone for any amount of time without feeling an emotional backlash afterward. I'm also in a closed, long-term relationship right now, and I really don't want to sacrifice my relationship just so I can have my fun.

** sigh ** Sometimes I wish I'd met the love of my life LATER in my life, y'know? After I'd had my fill of playing. But we can't pick and choose. Congrats to those beautiful, confident women who have attained Unicorn status. I guess it just wasn't meant to be for me...

I know exactly what you mean. I have a friend that I immediately thought of when I read DBD's description of a Unicorn. She has her fun and doesn't get emotionally caught up whatsoever, and it work beautifully for her.

Ever since being in a long-term relationship I don't view sex the way I used to. I feel that the sex we have is better because of our connection, and I'm just not sure I could have as much fun without the emotions.

I say more power to you if you can! Any woman in charge of her sexuality is an amazing thing.

Good question. I live near San Francisco. Very open about sex, and my husband did most of the initial research. There are a lot here.

Couple options I think. Look up "Girl centric" "girl centered" +club, "sex club" for your city. Look up munches for your city and see what shows up. Those are essentially meet and greet. Getting involved with people will connect you to their knowledge behind the scene. There are a lot of various yahoo, online groups that have knowledge for various cities. I know some of them. People regularly post about "Does anyone know the local group for this city..." I think that quick google searches turn up a fair amount, then look for reviews and what the rules/policies are.

Fetlife is similiar to Myspace except for sex and fetish. It's more adult oriented. I think there are others. Communication with adult sex bloggers. Sex clubs are often alcohol free or bring your own. Something like Pleasure Zone has parties at different venues regularly, but it's no sex.

The Atlanta club that I've heard of is 2Risque

I've never heard of this term before. Honestly, I guess I just didn't think it -needed- one. It's interesting that certain places cater to this type of person.

I love the term "unicorn" when referred to women. It's true that they are very rare, but also confident. They are also highly valued in many sexual situations, and get to make their own choices.

I've met one once, and she was dressed in white too! LOL.

There is a huge difference between something like Pleasure Zone and smaller sex clubs. Pleasure Zone recognized a need to create a sensual and safe environment for women that was different from the bar scene. You can dress and be incredibly sexy, and be comfortable that you are safe and setting the rules. The parties at PZ are often held in a hotel or a private room of a bar or larger restaurant. The dress code is definitely something that I love wearing, but wouldn't dream of wearing to a normal bar for fear of being raped. Even if it's just to turn your own partner on! Which I've done many times. Often the parties are themed- the New Year's party this year was a bit more dressed up, the guys had to wear at least a suit. There is often a "snow" theme in the winter, a lingerie theme near Valentines. Halloween gets out of hand. I've seen women's costumes not much more than duct tape or a thong and pasties.

It's fun, sensual, and sexual.

Unicorn is a term used in the swing lifestyle. It originated there...

A unicorn is like the "holy grail" to swingers. A single woman open to participating in a MFF scenario, without developing any feelings of attachment of snarkyness...

They are rare, hence the mythical analogy

DBD - I looked through the pleasure zone and it seems absolutely perfect for me. But 2Risque just focuses more on sex. Yes I'm going there to see where the night takes me - no I don't want to go on the presumption that I definitely will... and the dress code for 2 risque was girls: sexy sexy sexy you know what to do. Whereas PleasureZone constantly enforces women being comfortable.

I'll have to hunt for a PleasureZone type event in my area.

I married at age 21 and was fairly sexually inexperienced. As we grew stronger in our relationship, my husband encouraged me to explore my sexuality more--something that didn't really interest me until I hit my mid-30's and that awesome sexual peak! Being a 'married Unicorn' was so liberating--I was only looking for sex, and because I was already married all the men knew from the beginning I wasn't interested in a relationship. I generally targeted men about 10 years my junior, also because they're terrified of commitment. Can I call myself a Unicorn Cougar?

I hadn't heard of the women-as-unicorns thing. Whenever I think of unicorns now, I think of Neil Patrick Harris. link

I didn't see the movie; no movie can live up to a poster of that inexplicable awesomeness.

But now I'll try to reimagine it with a plethora of free women astride it.

And NPH

I LOVE Pleasure Zone. We've met some fun friends there. Someone was asking about Atlanta, and I've heard about it- I've never been to 2 Risque myself, but know someone that has. I have been to some of the local clubs here in SF if there is more interest in that.

Yeah... that is just a little more then I think I'd be comfortable with, although I'm not opposed to going once just to see.

I really just love the idea of a club where women can dress as they please, dance, and not feel like cheerleaders at a professional football game. You know... a bunch of strange drunk men yelling perverse things at me.

You know... You can always go anywhere just to watch. Or if the night takes you somewhere interesting you can go further.

Part of what I really do enjoy is some of the spontaneity of the night! Some nights there isn't much. Some times some serious surprises. (But with me, that can happen anywhere.)

My best friend is a unicorn. She is so awesome and has taught me so much.

I wish there were clubs like that here in EP. I can't even find a sex toy store here though.

You can but you have to look all knowledgeable and radiently beautiful while purring and rawrrrring at times....also helps to have a golden horn and some claws LOL! I didn't realize I was a cougar until I had met and attached my lover, he's 15 years my junior! I tried to be a unicorn but those pesky feelings kept creeping up so I am just stuck with being a cougar RAWR!

Haha, I used to be something like that. I would be going out for sex and just that. After walking away, the men I slept with would try and get me back because they wanted more of that confident unemotional sexually-driven woman.

If I was a unicorn, then I'm trying to find a permanent rider. A man with whom I can still be that highly sexual person but with feelings. This should be interesting and a nice change as well.
