I am thinking of applying to some higher end adult stores in the area, but I feel as I'm so young (18, almost 19) they would assume I was inexperienced. Would YOU include reviewing for EdenFantasys on your resume/cover letter/application? If so, would what would you say?
Would you include Eden on a resume?

I would write about what you did, and then say add "if you would like a sample of my writing, please inquire", or something like that. I would make it clear to them that you understand the products and the materials, as well as safety and useage. And include that you understand how to explain the products clearly to people who may be unfamiliar or nervous.

Two months ago I applied at a local adult toy boutique and when I went in to drop off my application I asked to speak the manager. When talking to her I overviewed my work as a reviewer. I think it is easier to grasp via talking than written. That's just me though. The manager (my now boss) was intrigued and it helped me get the job for sure. She still marvels at my knowledge, especially on products that are brand new (like the Lelo Tiani) because as a reviewer I read and hear about new toys before we stock them. (I'm only 20 too, so I'm right on that
"possibly too young" bracket too)

I would most definitely include EF on my CV, were I to apply for such a position. I'd just say that I'm an active (frequent, if applicable) reviewer, and speak (very briefly, for my experience shows terse, pithy statements are more attractive to employers than long winded statements) on the types of reviews I've done. Though, I've not done any reviews myself, on here, so I can't say that.

Your title made it look like you were asking if I would on my resumes, and the answer to that is heck no! In an actual interview if I was asked about hobbies I wouldn't be opposed to saying I host a cooking club online, though.
But---for your case? Yes, definitely stick it in there. Just a short mention on the resume, but feel free to talk plenty during the interview.
Good luck getting the job! A store like that would be a lot of fun to work at.

For that specific line of work, YES. Include it all. HOWEVER, I would NEVER post it on a website that does hiring. Those employment websites keep all that data and something like this, while fun, might bite you bad in applying for OTHER type jobs or positions in the future.

If I were applying to a sex store or other job in the same area of expertise, then I honestly don't see why talking about Eden would be a bad thing.
I actually think I missed out on a full-time job at Petsmart because I actually forgot to put on my resume that I was a professional pet sitter with a legitimate company for several months. I was actually told by the second manager that talked to me that had I included that in the first place, it would have made a big difference. Part of the job I was applying for required that I work in the pet hotel at least once or twice a week. So... yeah..

It seems like everybody's already beaten me to the punch, but I say definitely, it can't hurt to mention your activity with us if applying to work an adult store. It almost got me a job once (not in my region so I couldn't have worked there anyway), so I think it's a great idea. Good luck!
10/24/2011
Good Luck to you, but I agree with everyone else it's not going to hurt when applying for a position that's relevant because you are gaining experience here. I don't know how long you've been with Eden but I would mention that, and everything else everyone's mentioned.

The experience is relevant, and demonstrates you aren't just an 18 year old trying to get the "cool job at a sextoy store", but rather, this is an industry you are interested in and knowledgeable about. It indicates that you have initiative, and a general desire to share knowledge with and offer advice to others. Plus, if it is a higher end store, being able to reflect in your resume your knowledge of product materials and luxury products is a bonus. Put it in your resume, dress to the classy nines when you go to talk to them from the very first moment, and be confident and driven about getting the job. Go for it, and good luck!

Since it is in the same industry, yes. If you were applying to be a nurse, or other out of the adult industry job, no. And add a sample review to your resume.

A brief description of all of the above. Add something like "if you would like more details feel free to inquire".
10/25/2011
I agree with what everyone else already said. I'd add it, absolutely! You'll have to let us know how it goes
10/25/2011
For an adult store, this is certainly a point for your resume!
10/25/2011
I agree with everyone. Add it and even tell them I can show you some of my work. Just check out my Eden page. LOL I would think that would be a great thing for your potential employer to know.
10/25/2011
You should definitely include those things. Not for WalMart or something, but if you're applying at an adult store, that would look really good. You should go for it.
10/26/2011
Still a bit shy
10/26/2011
It would seriously depend on the job I was applying for. For a job at an adult store, most certainly. For a job where I wanted to appear "family-friendly", definitely not. For a job that had to do with my writing skills, maybe. It would depend on how well I thought it would be received.
01/31/2012
Yes, the experience is very much related to the job you are applying for.
