Would you eat ANY food alive?

Here's someone eating a live mini octopus link

I don't think I could ever eat that, or anything else for that matter, alive.

That's one thing I cannot put into my mouth, can't imagine how it feels like to swallow a squiggly octopus, and those long tentacles might choke me to death!

That seems cruel to the living creature.

I'm a vegetarian, so I don't eat things that were alive. To eat something that's *still* alive seems like torture to the animal.

I do like calamari but that video was sad with her waking the octopus around on the table. I have eaten fresh, raw oysters before but I'm not sure if they were living, they certainly didn't move around like that octopus did. Eating monkey brains live and raw is also considered a delicacy, there are videos of it but they are pretty disgusting so here's an article: link

Technically speaking, any fresh fruit or vegetable (as in not rotting, and not frozen or canned), is in fact still alive. So in that way, yes.

But I realize this is about animals, and my answer to that is no. I'd never eat any creature that was still alive and breathing.

Every creature's fear is being eaten alive. I wouldn't want to put that on anything!

On the plus side, I hear there are occasional situations when the octopus chokes the person trying to eat them alive. They are about as smart as a dog, you know.

Bah to cultural and moral relativism. You could say that female (and male) circumcision, homophobia, and misogyny are part of other cultures but that doesn't make them any less objectionable.

Well you can say that that's what happens in nature anyway though. You don't see grizzlies cooking their salmons. =] But I wouldn't either. It squicks me out.

I can't stand those videos of live sushi on youtube, when you can see the heart still beating. I am not vegetarian, but I still consider it inhumane.
