It depends on the weather and the time of year. I won't turn on the air conditioning until the end of June or July, which is when it really starts getting hot out. Before that, I will just leave the windows open.
Windows open or AC on?

A/C on in the hot, muggy summer, but only in the bedroom, otherwise the windows are open in the cool part of the day/night, and closed the rest of the time. We use fans to help.
Of course, in the winter time, which seems to last forever in Up State New York, the windows are closed.

It depends on how hot it is outside. We open the windown until the house gets to be around 85. Then, we close the windows and turn on the A/C.

AC = Only Option

I love the windows open because A. it feels good and B. it saves some money but my partner loves the AC on and freezing me out!

In San Francisco, I'm more likely to have the heater on during the summer.

Only have A/C on when it gets too hot.

A/C on a hot day. I hate the heat! But on nice mild days definitely windows open, nothing like a good breeze running through the house making everything smell like sunshine

It always gets too hot in the summer to just have the windows open, so we pretty much have to keep the AC running unless we want it to be 90+ degrees in our apartment.

I get super hot in the summer so AC is preferred, but at night I usually open the window near my bed for the fresh air. Plus, if I leave the AC on overnight I wake up cold.

I love a cool breeze

Depends on the weather, it gets really hot and humid in the south, and I can't always deal with it.

AC on

Too hot in Florida for the windows to be open much past April.

Fresh air whenever possible.

I live in the hottest city in Canada come summer, but even so I prefer just opening the doors and windows. I do a fair amount of work outside, and leaving an air conditioned room into the blistering +40 celsius heat makes it even worse.
I just use a fan when the air isn't moving enough.

i just have some fans going on nonstop

I love being able to open the windows and doors on a nice windy day. But if it's really hot, I rather keep the a/c on.

I have 8 ft wide, 9ft high windows, pretty much all to wall across the entire south facing portion of my apartment. If the sun is up, my apartment turns into an oven and becomes hot enough to make me nauseous on a regular basis. That being said, I am a windows open person, unless it is a matter of feeling like I am going to vomit or not, in which case I am an a/c on, directly in front of it person.

AC on is so much better.

a breeze is the best

I dunno, as a chicagoland girl I still use my a/c in the winter, much to my husbands horror

a/c for sure. Not much of a choice

I live in Mesa Arizona. Without air conditioning, we would all be dead here....
05/21/2011
Depends what kind of heat it is. If it is really humid, than AC. If it is dry and semi-hot, windows open.
05/22/2011
AC on, but still love the windows open when it actually cools down a little outside.
08/07/2011
Got to have my AC!

I keep the windows open until it gets too hot, then I turn the A/C on. I love the fresh air.

Windows open until a bee comes in the window. I am allergic!
