Wondering what everyone at EF is planning.
Will you get a flu vaccine this year?

I might. It depends on cost and if there's a shortage, in which case i forgo a vaccine.

No, I'm really not comfortable around needles. Plus, I'd rather it go to someone of a population that could really benefit from it.

i don't need it. i have a fantastic immune system, so i've never really needed it.

My kids got them already. One got the shot, the other got the nasal spray. I got my first one last year and it made me feel miserable! Gonna skip that this year.

I probably will. Even if it is coincidence, the only years I've not gotten it I've come down with the flu that had me in bed for over a week unable to do more than move enough to turn over!

I'll be doing it this year. I have pulmonary issues, so anything that has a chance of keeping my lungs clearer is good.

yes

Done several weeks ago along with a pneumonia booster. The flu shot had no ill effects but the pneumonia booster gave quite a strong reaction that really hurt for a few days.

I won't get it but all three of my children have already gotten it.

We took ours a month ago, we do that every year at the Costco Flu Clinic, the retired nurses are skilled at administering the shots.

I never have, and I most likely never will.

A word of warning for adults who are planning to get the flu vaccine: Please take the injection vaccine, NOT the nasal vaccine. There's a chance you might get very sick after receiving the nasal-spray flu vaccine (FluMist), since it contains live viruses.

I've never gotten the flu vaccine, and I won't this year either.

I've gotten it when I was younger and when I was pregnant, but definitely won't be getting it again unless I get a job that requires it.

The vaccine is mainly intended for boosting the immunity for the children and the elderly; as a healthy teenage girl it'd be a waste of their resources for me to get it when someone that needs it more could have it!

This is a risk for children, the elderly and those with compromised immune systems, not normal healthy adults. If people work or spend alot of time around these at risk populations they really should be getting the vaccine since there is always the possibility that they can become the carrier of the virus to those that have a harder time fighting it off.

I already got my flu vaccine this year. I am required by my doctor to get one because "flu-like symptoms" cover so many diseases that it is beneficial to knock out one. Plus this year it has been required as part of the screening process for my new job.

I like my immune system, thanks. No flu vaccines for me!
11/03/2011
I don't really believe in most vaccines, so no.
11/03/2011
I probably will.
11/03/2011
I will because I can't risk getting sick
11/03/2011
I have never gotten the flu shot and dont think i ever will.

I refuse to get the flu shot. Everyone in my family has had severe reactions to it and I don't want to test my luck with it lol
I WILL get the pertussis vaccine though. I have a 3 year old step daughter and I don't want her exposed to whopping cough.

Nope and neither will my children. It is really not that useful to get vaccinated for one type of flu when you are going to end up with a totally different kind.

I have a new baby, so I will and so will my 5 year old, but the baby can't, so we'll do our best to keep her from being sick too much this winter.
