i refuse to buy that new dr. pepper (although not the old dr pepper) because it actually thought an ad campaign saying it's for "men only" was a good idea. offensive and just plain stupid, no thank you. anyone else boycott something because of offensiveness and/or stupidity?
will you boycott a company for a commercial you find offensive/stupid?

If the commercial is really, honestly offensive, I may boycott. However, I have found that those companies tend not to make products I would ever buy in the first place, so it's never been much of a problem for me. Common culprits are often fast food, snack foods and men's/women's personal care items. I don't eat fast food, I don't buy most commercial snack food and I only buy alternative/handmade personal care items...

No.

Nah its not like me not buying that particular item is going to hurt them. they are not going to hunt me down and ask why im not buying it cause when it comes down to it they dont care. so if its something i like then i buy it. I do not ever buy something based on the commercial..

It depends.
I do "boycott" certain companies and figures who have said offensive things or who support offensive "charities" and such.
I can give a pass to people in ages past who didn't have access to what we do now, but people who claim to be enlightened and part of the LGBT community who say ignorant shit against it piss me off. ^__^
And companies supporting anti-gay-marriage and all that political hoo-ha. Fuck them.
Sometimes this shows in commercials, but commercials often aren't as bad as the things they actively try to hide.

no. but I will boycott a company for taking jobs overseas. I will boycott a company for choosing profit of the safety of consumers and/or employees.

Not only will I ... I do.

I guess it depends on how offensive the commercial was. I probably would though.

I won't boycott an entire company but I'll definitely boycott the offensive product. I'm with you on that commercial. I HATE it. It's ignorant and not only is it sexist to women but it's sexist to men.
I think in these cases, people shouldn't just boycott the company/product/etc. They should write letters to the company and speak to the company's representatives. I wish I could say I do this but my social anxiety makes it hard for me to speak to fast food employees, let alone some corporate person.

If I don't like a commercial for a new product, I generally won't buy the new product. If a terrible or offensive commercial comes out for a product I love, I'd still buy the product. If it's a product I've been on the fence about or something, the commercial can make or break it. That's marketing.

I will generally boycott anything I'm not fond of the marketing for. Commercials that are stupid and offensive will keep me from buying something, but not only that, I'll also spread the boycott to my friends and theirs. Really, if I cared enough, I'd pitch a fit to corporate, but hell, I can only do so much and I'd rather focus on things that make me happy.

yes, thank you! not only that, but seriously, who was that dumb to think it'd be a good idea? about 90% of diet soda drinkers are women, what did they say "let's alienate 90% of the clients for our other diet products in the hopes that men come on board if we stroke their egos enough"? the fact that the commercials have gone off the air suggests it was a bust.

I know a lot of ads on TV are pretty stupid these days. Most of the time I just ignore them though. I will boycot a company that does phone advertising. I hat sales calls at my house at all hours of the day. If the company calls my house, they've lost a customer, even if it's a company I normally use. I HATE telemarketing, and I vote with my money.
