Who were your favorite &/or least favorite teachers and why?

I have had lots of teachers I liked, some I detested and some who barely made an impression either way. Did you have a favorite teacher? Why were they your favorite? I don't care if you had a few favorites, too, go ahead & list all of them, if you want to.

And since this just begs the reverse...did you have any you just detested? Tell us about that, too, if you want!

My least favorite teacher was in 8th grade. My male math teacher used to stand behind us girls and try to look down our shirts...He did this to my best friend, who happened to be sitting behind me at the time, I asked him why he was looking down her shirt. Detention for me--suspension for him.

My absolute favorite was my high school English teacher! A wonderful woman who noticed my writing and encouraged me. She also noticed my home life and had me move in with her and her family for a couple months so I could finish the school year...I still see her and we meet for lunch every month.

I had a lot of awesome teachers and some terrible ones. My favorite teacher was my bio teacher senior year. She really peaked my interest in neuroscience (hence the brain).

My least favorite teachers? There was an 8th grade science teacher who never taught; we just watched movies.

WOW What a wonderful person to have not only been a concerned teacher, but a good Samaritan, too? That's such a good thing to hear, it reaffirms to me that there are people who go above & beyond & it makes a difference. I love that you are still in touch with her like that, she's a special person!

As for the creep, I don't understand why you were punished at all, but that seems to be the way of it in schools, huh? He should have somehow been removed from teaching girls, but at least he got busted! So disturbing!

Middle school gym teacher was my least favorite. He would walk around and stare at the girl's inappropriately during stretches. He also tried to sit in on the scoliosis exams (for anyone who hasn't had one, you have to wear just a bra) because he "didn't trust the nurse to do it right". He had a minor degree in health, so I guess he decided to use that to his advantage. A bunch of us eventually got together and reported him after he grabbed my ass. He was fired.

My favorite teacher didn't have a specific subject. She taught SAT prep, AP European history, and some others. She was also the group leader of SADD. Since I was in the director's board for SADD and took AP Euro, we spent a lot of time together. She was so sweet and helpful with everything. She also have me the most wonderful college recommendation letter. As sappy as it sounds, it made me cry.

Geez, another creepy, inappropriate male teacher, (the nurse knew better than to have him present, s/he was culpable, if he was allowed in!), but another great female teacher!

Loved my 8th grade biology teacher the most and even still remember his name and had taken his class as an elective after seeing who he was in the 7th grade. I was experiencing my 1st crush at the time and he was soooo gorgeous to me at the time. Even today I remember him fondly, he was also the boys sports coach too. I should had though he was never inappropriate and devoted wholeheartedly to his wife, always talked about her in class.

My least favorite was no particular one but it was always my English teacher and they always presented the subject so dryly I always fell asleep in class.

My favourite teachers (looking back) were the tough ones who were hated by almost all the students at the time. They pushed us because they knew we could do the work and wouldn't give up. But were always there if we asked for help.

My least favourite teachers were the ones who tried to be "friends" with students. They were not good teachers as they didn't do all lessons we needed too. Or the ones that were politically correct. Or the religion teachers who deducted grades from me for questioning religion and questioning them. OH! And also ANY teacher who went on strike is a horrible teacher in my opinion. During my last year of high school, I almost didn't get to graduate because of them. And then got scolded for not supporting them.

The two teachers I love most of all, were hard asses and old school hard asses. The summer my father passed away, I went to their funerals as well and spoke at their funerals as a former student. I am now a teacher, and I try to be as good a teacher as they were to me. It is not easy being a teacher, but, hopefully I make an impact on my students lives for the better.
