I first discovered credit unions when I was living in WA state in a little college town. From the get-go, I was so impressed with how they treated me vs. the big banks. A minor mistake, such as an overdraft, is not only NOT automatically fined, but they allowed me 30 days to bring it up to balance. And just their friendly attitude overall was really refreshing. Needless to say, when I moved back to my 'home' state I sought out another credit union (I still have my account with the other one, in case I go back, but this one is more convenient for now.) They have been equally wonderful. I even got a surprise $50 promo deposit in my checking account--wooohoo! After these two positive experiences on opposite sides of the country, I don't think ANYTHING could convince me to go back to a regular bank. So, who else loves their credit union?

I work in finance and keep my money with large institutions and online banks. There's not enough ways to access my money at the credit unions around here since their online banking is behind the times. Also? Credit unions are some of the first to go under in a down economy because they don't generate the revenue a bigger bank or online bank does. I don't particularly trust FDIC so I wouldn't put money in a bank I feel might go under. I have some concern in that regard with the online banks as well, but due to the convenience and high interest rate I take the gamble. Not enough benefit for me at a credit union to do so.
I can imagine they're nice to work for. The ones around here sill close at three!!

I won't ever leave my Credit Union. They have always been kind, supportive and helped us when we neded it. Now they are helping my husband and I clean up our credit so we can buy a house someday. They have already told us that if we do what they are asking our mortgage rate will be low and we will get the most favorable plans. Totally love my Credit Union!

My husband has a credit union and they're unbelievably friendly and great about just about everything. We're planning on getting our future mortgage through them.

I love mine too! I don't know what I would do if I couldn't use one!
They are 10000x better than any of the big banks (most smaller ones too).

I hate my credit union. My union forces me to use one for my vacation fund, they take money from my check and deposit it in a account at the credit union. I get next to nothing in interest on my deposit, and it does not go up with the account balance. They charge me for a quarterly statement. They get upset when I call up and take my money out every month, to deposit it in an account that pays me interest to keep my money there. Their loan rates are 2 points higher then the highest I have every gotten.
