Who Do You Sleep With?

Contributor: Tori Rebel Tori Rebel
I used to think all living together couples, married or not, slept in the same bed. The older I get and the more people I meet though, I find that a lot of couples sleep in separate beds or even in separate rooms - some for extreme reasons such as they really don't like each other any more, and some for much simpler reasons, like very different sleep or work schedules or that one person snores too much. I do love sharing a bed with my man but every once in a while, I wish I had a little more space to myself. How do you guys all sleep?

When we're together, same bed. When I am alone, I sleep by myself. I do not like it at all, I do not like sleeping alone. I do not like having my own space, either. I like having people around. This is probably why I feel the way that I do - I like to smother and be smothered with love.

Same bed for us. I don't mind sleeping alone, but it's much more enjoyable to share a bed with someone, and my partner definitely sleeps better with me there.

My husband and I sleep in the same bed. It's a Queen size, and I REALLLLLY wanna buy a King size bed. More room, less accidentally waking each other etc.

I'm thinking that might solve my problems as well...although when we travel and have a king bed, he still wants to be right up against me. I probably shouldn't complain though, it could be that he wanted to be far away! And when he's not there (we don't live together, but sleep together frequently), I do miss him very much.

I sleep with My Man. The babies slept with us when they were little and need to nurse every 1/2 hour, but again, it's just The Man and I. His parents stopped sleeping in the same bed when he was a kid, and he thought it was sad. He said, "That will never be us." I have a hard time sleeping alone now.

When we first started living together, we couldn't sleep, as we were both used to usually sleeping alone. We would stay up night and talk and make love. Now neither of us sleeps well alone.

Well, sometimes you won't get perfection, but you can certainly get near-perfection! You choose, you know - have him up close, or have him at the other end of the bed and never touching. It's a trade-off sort of thing.

We sleep in the same bed, I have a really hard time sleeping without him actually. We also have to share the bed with our pug and one if not both of our cats. Luckily the big dog got sick of me kicking her in my sleep and she sleeps on the floor next to the bed now.

Most times, I love sleeping in the same bed as my guy. And we do, every night. But we also both have chronic insomnia and it never seems to "flare up" at the same time. So I'll admit there are times I also REALLY wish we had a spare bed. Morning comes too early when one of us cant sleep.

I sleep with my man when we're together, always nuzzled up right next to him. When we're not together though, I have a stuffed animal to cuddle with. Littfoot from The Land Before Time. I've had him since I was a wee baby.

We normally sleep in the same bed when we sleep together. Because of my 3rd shift schedule, he normally goes to bed while I'm awake then I'll crawl into bed about when he's waking up. It's a full-sized bed though - I feel like a bigger bed would most definitely help.

For all of our time together,29 years, we have slept in the same bed. Started out in what was then called a three-quarters size bed (I don't think they make them anymore--is about the size of one and a half twin beds), then after a five years, we got a full size. Now for the last 21 years we have had either a California King, King or what we have now...Super King (specially made). It is HUGE. And both of us are just regular size people, but we both like to sprawl out and I tend to fidget and roll around a lot at night. The real good thing is that no matter where the wet spot winds up being, there is always more bed we can roll over onto to sleep. Haha.

Aw I have one of those too! My dad gave it to me and it was one of my favorites and I still sleep with it sometimes.

I sleep with him when he's here, we tend to be quite cuddly. I think, at least for me, sharing a bed and telling secrets while snuggling in the dark helps to build a lot of intimacy and is one of my favorite parts of a relationship.

We are in the same boat, queen bed Desperately wanting a king. We sleep well together but we fight for the middle of the bed every night. It's fun to wake up and see who won

Currently - just the Maltese-Poodle (the cat is now living with my ex-husband).

I'm a bit divided on bed-sharing. Pros: it's nice to hold each other and talk when settling down. Cons: he snored (BADLY), tried shoving me off the bed while sleeping, and he never let me have the left side.

It's pretty lonely right now, but at least nobody's snoring in my ear.

My parents have separate bedrooms because my mother's up at all hours with the TV on, and my dad sleeps at night and needs quiet. I understand it completey.

When I'm at school I sleep alone, but when I'm with the boyfriend we always sleep snuggled up together with a cat or two in between us

I slept in the same bed with my boy for almost two years, but just recently he got his own bed, and now we sleep separately. It is a huge improvement, and now we have twice as much space to cuddle/nap/fuck.

When hubby is home we sleep in the same bed unless one of us accidentally falls asleep on the couch or something. But hubby works night shift so from tuesday to friday night I sleep alone, normally on the couch.

We sleep together in the same bed, unless I'm not feeling well then I will sometimes sleep on the couch.

I love sleeping in the same bed with my boyfriend, but our sleep schedules are often very different. I can't be up in the same room as him without waking him up (he's a very light sleeper), so on days I'm up later than him I often go in another room. Besides, he tends to stretch out in a jumping-jack position while he sleeps, which can push me into a tiny corner of the bed! We only sleep well together on king- or queen-sized beds.

If I had the choice, when moving in with any future significant other, I'd like to have separate rooms. Not just for sleeping, but for privacy. I don't do well when I don't have my own space.

When we're together, in the same bed, virtually on top of each other because we're so close.

When we're apart, I have Roldy (named for Harold, from Harold and Kumar) my teddybear and Icarus, my dog. I hate sleeping alone.

I travel a lot - so that dictates sleeping alone. But when I'm home we're in the same bed - a King. We've had a king since day 1 - because I had one long before we married. That's way too close for comfort - when we travel together and we have to sleep on a queen - we never get good sleep.

Can you imagine - my in-laws who have been married for almost 50 years still sleep together in a double!

We don't sleep together often, but Cyn is such an angel for putting up with my snoring and "out-gassing". She is such a kitteh when she sleeps. I have a hard time not pestering her.

Right now we only have a twin sized bed. When we lived in separate apartments and stayed at each others places for only a few days at a time, sleeping int the small bed wasn't a big deal. We both like to sleep in the same semi-sprawled position though, so sometimes it doesn't produce the best sleep. We sleep separate about a third of the time on the bed, floor with tons of pillows and blankets, or the couch. We used to sleep on an air mattress before a friend popped it. But this is only while we look for a queen size bed. Then we will sleep together all the time.

When dating, my husband and I shared a twin bed at my house or a super single waterbed at his house. Super single is bigger than a twin, but smaller than a double or queen. Now that we're married, we still have that tiny super single. It's okay, and we still sleep together in it all the time, but we plan to get a queen bed and continue sleeping together all the time. I can't imagine not sleeping without him or sleeping seperately.

Now that hubby is currently deployed though, I either sleep alone for with up to 4 of my kitties!

Ahh I love sleeping with my husband. Theres nothing better then it. With miltiary deployments between the two of us weve gone 2 years without seeeing eachother. Even then its hard sleeping knowing your parenters oversees. Luckily hes back stateside now. Anyway, I sleep with him, 2 dogs on the bed. And sometimes my little sister has bad dreams so shele crawl up in my bed.

I love it, even though my dogs are so spread apart my ass hangs off the side of the bed sometimes. I wouldnt trade it for the world.

I live alone and sleep alone, in my tiny twin bed. My bf lives many states away and he too sleeps alone in his tiny twin. Someday when we move in together we can get a full or a queen bed. When i stayed with him for 2 weeks I actually found sleeping with him (on a futon in the back room) to be very soothing, which is weird. I can never sleep at sleepovers or when someone is in the room with me.

Same bed, dog sometimes climbs up, kids climb in, then out, then in again. Ugh! I sleep best when he travels and I have the bed all to myself.
