I don't think there is much reasoning behind right vs. left. I once heard that people are more likely to put on the shoe opposite their dominant hand, but I've observed a lot of right-handed people put their right shoe on first and vice versa.

Come to think of it, maybe I tend to do my left shoe first.... Huh... I'm going to start paying attention now. It's honestly not something that I've ever considered.
