Well, for some I prefer online storage, and for some I prefer external hard drives and CDs/DVDs... Rarely any on my pc because it is the very first thing what could lose data...

i use a portable hard drive to store my school work in. that way i can take my files wherever i go, and if my computer craps out, i dont have to worry

The only stuff I store online is in my gmail account, everything else is kept on external, internal, and network (also internal) drives. I would love to find a place I could trust enough to host a personal server (for backups) for me, but so far, I haven't.

Most of my stuff is on external. I might do an additional cloud storage soon but I would probably never put all of it online, too much risk for me.

Flash drives and external hard drives. We have some on DVD's, but don't use online.

My important documents are usually backed up in at least two places, one online and one on an external drive (sometimes two drives, but that's more for portability than security).

For me, internal storage on the computer is just fine, and then I keep my music and some other files on external storage as well. If it's really important I will back things up to a hard disc copy as well.

Usually on the main external hard drive but if it's something I don't want the others in the house to be able to see I'll put it on my personal usb drive.
