We take our dogs with us, whenever we can. We do, however, travel a lot where we cannot take them, and we have a professional service that comes and "lives in" during that time. We used a "doggy motel" once, but the dogs seemed more stressed from it then happy.

My dad takes care of my cats if I travel and cant take them with me. I don't really like leaving them with him cuz the cats seem displeased after. Yet that's all I can do.

We have two cats and all we need to do is put out a couple extra bowls of food and water and they are just fine.

This is one reason we do not have pets now. When we had our Alaskan Malamute she would cry if we left her for more than 10 hrs. She would dig under the fence and get out to play. Had to search the neighborhood for her.
