Do you hire someone to help you move, or do you rent a U-Haul and do it yourself?

If you don't hire movers, is it because you don't trust them with your things or because it's too expensive?

We usually get a U-Haul and do it ourselves but we will probably hire movers when we move next time. My back and neck are really bad so it's hard for me to move stuff.

I rent a U-Haul and do it myself, but next time I move, I'll be hiring movers. It's too much hassle now.

My first move many years ago when I left the family home was with a U-Haul trailer. I learned after time and many things broken by family to hire the professionals. Plus many of my family is much older now and I wouldn't want them to hurt themselves by lifting something incorrectly or without the needed support.

We move ourselves. We don't have enough stuff for a uhaul yet. We have a truck and a horse trailer and a crap load of friends. When you live out in the middle of no where like we do you gain all sorts of friends that are ridiculously helpful! it's just not worth the money for us.

I've never moved, but I've helped family move before and they've always just rented a truck and had family help out.

We do it ourselves with the help of family. We might hire some movers when we move out of our apartment and into a house though. Just makes life easier. I would rather pack my own stuff, just get help with the actual moving.

I have never hired anyone, but mainly because I am just unfamiliar with how that works. Although the next time I move, I am definitely hiring people to do it.

I've done it both ways and there are good companies and bad companies that can help you move. I'd look at local reviews to see who is best. If you're really worried about certain Items, move those items yourself and leave the rest for the movers.

I haven't moved since I was young. We rented a U-Haul. It was more because of the price to hire help.

I've only moved twice in my adult life. The first time a truck was rented. The second time we did it all with a car because it was a very spur-of-the-moment relocation and there wasn't any spare cash to rent a u-haul. I have never hired movers but if I ever move again I probably will simply because it would make life easier and the move less stressful.

Too expensive, we get friends to help us move. We don't have a lot of furniture so we can get moved out and in within a few hours.

When my ex husband and I separated and I moved back in with my mom, my grandparents paid for a company to move my heavy items - stove, refrigerator, washer/dryer, etc. I did all the other packing and moving. I think it was their way of saying, 'thank you' for leaving him!
