I think anytime after Thanksgiving is appropriate, but we usually put ours up sometime during the first 2 weeks of December. There was one year I didn't put it up until Christmas eve, but I try not to wait that long.

We decorated the house on Thanksgiving night this year, and we get our tree the weekend after Thanksgiving. It's just one of the traditions in our house.

We put ours up on Thanksgiving. I know a lot of people prefer to wait until after, but we see Thanksgiving as more of a gateway to Xmas. Plus, Master really loves seeing the tree all lit up, and this way it is up for a little longer than it might have been.

I like to put up a real tree and we usually wait until the first or second week of December. If we had a fake tree I would put it up Thanksgiving night.

Mid-Decemberish. We keep the full 12 days of Christmas, so anything earlier and we might end up getting sick of it. Likewise, we avoid all things Christmas (music, TV specials, etc) until right before Christmas Eve. It's a lot more special that way.
