I heavily invest into ranged units, using melee units pretty rarely...

I usually try to get a good mix of both. Some games have different races good for different units, so if the race I choose is great for a certain unit, I will just stick that that one.

Mine are usually ranged units. If I kill them before they can hit me I can get to their buildings faster.
