Dying, or having a poor quality of life due to chronic health issues (I've had five surgeries in the past three years; and three weeks ago I would have died if it weren't for emergency surgery to repair a perforated bowel -- because of all of this, I've definitely thought a LOT about my own mortality in recent times).

Losing my husband or my children.

health issues really make a person think about how fragile we are. i'm sorry for your issues. i have a sister-in-law who is likely to have to have some surgery very soon, due to crohns.

bad times. it redefines fear...when a person has an issue like this.

i tell her she is strong. she says, "not really. i mean, what choice do i have but to deal with it? kill myself?"
that comment frightened me. it's a bad situation. wish i could do more for her.

Hemorrhoids -- yes! I actually am a tiny bit paranoid about a few health problems: rectocele, dental problems and others. I have had a couple of illnesses combined, which caused me to be severely ill for years, so I've gotten a little paranoid ever since I've been back to normal, which began about a year and a half ago! Yay for health! I have worried about hemorrhoids and actually try to prevent all kinds of health issues now that I am healthy enough to have a life outside of the house.

My fears, before reading yours about hemorrhoids and realizing it has been scary thoughts for me too, would be 1. spiders. I know it's silly, but I hate them bastards with every thing I have. I F'ing hate them! I get panic attacks, sick to my stomach and flip out when I see them. My super fear of them actually wasn't as intense until I started having big problems with them. I always hated them and was squeamish of em', but a the summer before last at 3AM, I was digging in a drawer (one of those rolly carts with clear drawers) for a hair clip. Diggin', dig, diggin' and no hair clip. so I reached further and further back and started seeing tiny crawling things. Then more. Then F'ing millions! Then... I got to the back of the drawer (okay, my heart is pounding right now!) and there's this monsterous idiot! A wolf spider! EEEWWW. First time ever seeing one too.

So I called my sister, had a 2 hour long panic attack & finally she rooted me on, giving me lots of encouragement & bam! I used the broom so I could stand really far back, and just started slinging that broom down as hard and as many times as I could.

I hauled that damn rolly cart outside and wouldn't touch it for months. I'd used hairspray to kill the tiny ones I'd seen before I knew there was the huge monster lurking back there in the drawer. Lord I never want to experience that crap again! After that, I was horrified for good. Then we kept getting more! I'd see them all over the front porch. We live in an area where these things are pretty common. One night my dad seen 3 of the damn things on the porch and buried them! Ha Ha. No chances!

Anyways, so that is a huge fear of mine. I have had several really nasty experiences similar to that one so at this point, I don't even use the word "spider." It makes me sick to my stomach. I spell it instead.

Other fears... a little bit of fear where failure, not being good enough is concerned. I'm better about it, but it's still there some.

Yes, being attacked or hurt is one of mine that I worry about frequently. It crossed my mind just tonight. I hate that! Fire is another fear, but the s-p-i-d-e-r thing, health stuff and a certain person are the only fears that have actually put a big strain on my life.

Blink. Eyes open. Today will be boring. Just another day at work. Go home, make dinner, and prepare for tomorrow. "You should go out, meet some people, make some friends." Maybe another time. You have all the time in the world. Until you don't.

My biggest fear would be to wake up one day and find that I have grown old and wasted my time on this earth, then realizing that I will never be able to do the things I dreamed about. Another fear is the fear of being alone and unwanted.

On your list, I'd have to say cancer, because I know how scary that can be. I have no problem with asteroids. By the time you realize you're doomed, you won't have much time to fret over it.

Realizing that I will likely be married and having a child within three/four years, after having had several years of hating my previous marriage and never wanting children. It's something I want, but it freaks the fuck out of me right now.

The only things that scare me more than anything, involve being in unremitting, excruciating pain, with no way out. Not being able to end it myself in such a situation it what's the scary part. Nothing compares to that, as far as I'm concerned, but I don't have children, so...
