My sister just got a wolf puppy. Literally, a full-blooded wolf puppy. So it made me wonder what weird animals others have owned. Then again, this is coming from a woman who already owns two aligators and I think an anaconda.
I have a friend who raises wild squirrels! She seems to find them hurt quite often and nurses them back to health, then they usually just stick around her place. Her house reminds me of Snow White.
I had a pet skunk as a teenager. His name was "Edward" and the woman who had him before us had bought him for her son and named him after her ex-husband. However, when her son went back to live with his dad after the summer - she asked my mom if we'd like to have the skunk.
I loved having him - he was hilarious. He lived in the garage and I would take him outside on a leash and walk him.
My sister had sugar gliders for awhile. Those are the most exotic I've known. Well, except for the llamas. Is it weird that I consider those to be normal livestock?

Needless to say - he was descented.

Sounds fun to have a descented skunk as a pet, they do look cute! We have a skunk that sneaks into our backyard eating up my sunflower seeds, I was deathly afraid my poodle might get sprayed by it, so my husband blocked all the holes underneath the fences to keep it from coming in. I still hear it moving around in my neighbors' side all the time.
Bears, deers, possums, rats, raccoons, foxes, wolfs, coy-dogs, rabbits, lizards, snakes... basically anything that could be found in the wild in southern Ontario.
I've had just about every single thing on this list And rats are still my #1 favorite. I wouldn't get a wolf puppy though - even the ones they breed that are 90-something percent wolf and then either husky or shepherd. Everything I've researched said it's impossible to breed or train the wolf mentality out of them and they're never a true pet. My ex-husband had just about every reptile and small animal and rodent possible at some point though, he worked with the DEP and housed injured and endangered species plus had a lot of reptiles based on scientific interest.
