The smallest species of bird in the world would be the bee hummingbird, only slightly larger than a bumblebee.
The smallest I've ever personally come across would probably be the green singing finches we carry at my store. Unless you count babies, in which case the smallest I've handled would be newly-hatched budgies.

Yep, hummingbird for me too. Quite the interesting little fellows those are. I still find it hard to believe they travel far away in the winter in the US, then return to the same flipping spot when it warms up in the US...crazy!
