No takers? That must be due to my poor timing in posting this. I'll see if this bumps it into view. (Hope that's allowed? It worked before on a topic I posted, but I waited a few days on that one before bumping it. Maybe I'll just start a topic devoted to it, yeah I think I will.)

I suppose it was watching, as well as reading, about those persons who bravely rushed to aid the victims at the Boston Marathon bombing. I witnessed people at their very best. Very heartwarming to me.

Recently, my co-worker got breast cancer for a second time. She was more panicked about not getting a paycheck to support her children because of the leave. We work in a salon, so we have no insurance/leave pay and what-have-you. So, my boss took on all of her clients during her 8 week leave and gave her the commission pay on every single one anyway. I thought that was really nice.

Your boss is a good human being! I'm glad to have heard that, but really concerned for you co-worker. I can't imagine the worry when you have children & think you beat cancer the first time, only to have it re-occur. I will keep her in my prayers & I hope you can tell her that, but understand if you can't.

@ Mr. John, excellent example & one of the things that got me thinking about this topic! Contrast that with the mess in Bangladesh over that garment factory collapse, I won't go into it, but what a shame. I wanted to focus on some of the good that happens during these tragedies, instead of starting a discussion bemoaning the state of the world. Although, I am a world class bemoaner!
Yeah! I received answers which should show me I need to submit topics at better times! Thanks for responding!

Excellent topic! I'm not coming up with a top "kindest act" off the top of my head, so I'll have to think about it and come back. However, I volunteer for a bird rescue organization, so I do see amazing acts of kindness frequently.

The breast cancer story above reminds me of one. Last time I went to the salon for a Brazilian wax, my esthetician told me that my hairdresser, who had formerly worked at the same salon (and who I'd followed to her new salon because she is so good), had been diagnosed with breast cancer, and that she (the esthetician) was going to put my payment for the waxing service into the fund for the hairdresser's treatments. Aww! I then went to my hairdresser's new salon, and they were selling raffle tickets and accepting donations to raise funds for her, as well.

I hope so, too! I trim my own hair between major haircuts, so I haven't seen her in a while. I need to check on her!
