It's actually not as weird as it sounds. My kitty was simply weened too young, I think, and displays some signs of OCD including this. He kneads on fuzzy blankets and suckles them like a kitten would its mom so we keep those blankets around for when he wants to come into bed. Sometimes he ignores them and simply nuzzles me until I wake up and pet him, though.

Same with my kitty! Only one of them though (I have 3 cats) the other two are almost normal. o_O
I adopted him when he was 6 months old, so I don't know exactly what his kitten-hood was like, but we've often suspected that he was taken too young and/or he wasn't interacted with much by the kids who initally got him and they subsequently dumped him in the shelter.
Needles to say, he has a fairly substantial list of "issues".
He sucks on blankies and the tip of his tail every night when he goes to sleep, drooling and purring all the while. About once a month he chomps the hair off of the tip of his tail while he's doing it too... it always grows back and then he eventually does it again.
I loves my weird-ass kittykins.
