If I could adopt all the adorable animals I come across, we'd have A LOT more than three dogs and two cats. I love critters of all shapes and sizes! We have one huge dog, one medium one, and one tiny one. They're all awesome! We found every single one of them and they couldn't be more perfect! Our kitties are just kitty-sized.

We have four cats, all strays we found as kittens. The latest one we found was very lucky, as he was amongst four siblings and he was the only one still alive when we found him. We did have two husky mixes that recently passed away- they were both pretty old for their breed (15 and 17). I grew up with them and miss them more than anything. Broke my heart to have to put them down, but it was their time. They died a month apart, surprisingly the 15 year old went first and I don't think the old guy had the will to live without her. We will be getting a new dog probably late summer/early fall. I am just not ready for another one just yet. It has been three months since the last one passed and its just still too fresh for me. Besides the cats though, I do have a hedgehog. She is four years old. I am looking into getting a ferret also, but not sure how the cats would take that, so I am not sure yet.

We have had cats most of our married life. Unfortunately, we can't here, because we can't afford the $250 pet deposit. Our places are always small, so small pets are best for us.

I don't want any of them in my home, I believe pets belong outside (dogs, cats) I could handle a small aquarium in the house.

I am thinking about eventually getting a Redbone, boxer or a rottweiler. But my kids are little right now and I wouldent want to have a big dog in the house. We live off in the mountains and they are like having an early warning system for intruders. Plus that a redbone you can hunt with, I always loved where the red fern grows when I was little. (SANS the part where the bear severly jacks up the dogs)

I was going to put large critters AND medium sized critter. Right now we have two dogs, a Malamute and a Black Labrador. We also have a bunny.

In the past we had a menagerie. We have had rabbits, lots of dogs, pet mice, hamsters, anoles (small lizards) an iguana, large frogs raised from tad poles, two African water frogs, one ate the other one. It traumatized my kids, because my middle one witnessed it and I think she'll need therapy to get over it.

We alo had whip tail lizards (that my FIL brought home from FLA half dead in a coffee can. I don't know why he brought us these, they belong in FLA, they were mean, they bit us, I had no idea what to feed them (and neither did he, I got them in mid winter and he suggested I feed them ants. Huh? Where am I going to get ants in mid winter in Chicago? We ended up feeding them wax worms (like bait) and I was in the first trimester of a pregnancy and couldn't stand to look at those worms.)

No cats. I'm pretty allergic.

My husband said "no more little critters" when the hamster got into the vent system and got caught in the wheel of the fan of our furnace. It was horrible! We heard it when it happened, he had been missing for 2 days and I was beside myself with worry, then "BANG BANG BANG BANG!" we were in bed really early in the morning, and I said to my husband, "OMG, that's the hamster!" He confirmed it, and had to remove it's poor little body with BBQ tongs. Small creatures live such short lives and our kids (and I) get upset when they die.

We'll stick to large animals like dogs, now.

I used to almost be obsessed with having a dog and cats but I have since realized that I like a cat or two and the absence of dogs. This will probably change when I have the ability to own a dog again. As a renter it is getting harder and harder to find a place that accepts dogs but cats are kind of universally accepted so long as they are fixed and litter trained.

I like rodents so long as their cages are well kept and I might like ferrets but I have never had the pleasure of owning one. I'd love a snake but Sigel would then want to own a giant spider of some sort and I loathe spiders so we have an agreement: No snakes or lizards and he leaves the spiders outside!
We tend to kill fish too easily to really feel confident in having a tank.

Hehe! Yes!

I actually love larger animals (horses, large dogs... big cats and even deer if I could have 'em!). But when it comes to domestic pets, it's easier to have middle sized ones.

I had a Great Dane, and she was wonderful but difficult with her needing so much space and always being in the way. On the otherhand, I constantly have cats underfoot because they follow me around 24/7, and they're always in the way and tripping me!

I grew up in farm country and had every type of pet as a kid. We had a pony, a python, mice, rats, rabbits, dogs, a couple dozen cats who ran around, an iguana, a chameleon, fish, parakeets, guinea pigs.. we even had a box turtle for a while. He was a big guy who got hit by a car and his shell was cracked, so he hung out and we fed him for 9 months or so while he healed.

My partner and I have a kitten. Someone found her in a parking lot and we brought her home at about 3 weeks old. She's about 8 months now and super affectionate-more so than almost every pet I've had. We've talked about getting a dog once we're in a bigger place with a yard for it to play in, but for now our little girl and my partner's parent's two sheltie brothers are enough for us.
