Since most of us use our beds nightly, I wondered about what kinds of sheets most people enjoy most. Which you think is most durable/practical/sexy ? (Answer below) What colors do like for a comfortable nights sleep? (Answer below)
What kind of sheets do you enjoy best?

Silk and satin are too slip-and-slide for daily use.
Flannel is crazy hot.
I'm one for beech cotton--jersey spun, only.
A creature of comfort, am I.

I have silk sheets, but they end up falling off my bed too often. I stick with cotton, although I love jersey sheets too.

Cotton stays cool, and I don't have to worry about messing it up beyond repair. I'd probably say silk if I'd ever slept on them, but fortunately I have no basis for comparison.

We sleep on nothing but flannel.

The Man won't sleep on flannel. "They suck all the fucking moisture outta my body."
Baby.
Baby.

Freshly washed cotton.

Cotton. A high thread count makes them just as soft as some of the silkier fabrics, and it's more practical too.
04/20/2011
I like really soft cotton sheets with a high thread count.

Puuuuuuuuure cotton. Soft and breathes well

Ours are cotton and they're super comfy and have lasted us a long time.

He might change his mind if you guys lived in Alaska and kept your thermostat at 63 in the bedroom (like my husband insists on). They are nice and warm.

He has some odd neurological issues and is very sensitive to certain sensations. He can't wear any jewelry or a watch, he carries a hat and gloves in winter, but only wears them when he's shoveling snow. He loves firm touch, but can't stand light touch. Sounds, like foam scraping drives him nuts. Our kids are the same way. Our baby has Auspergers and I think he has some of this, too.
Flannel sheets, according to him, make his skin crawl. Weird, but I can understand. Odd thing though he wears flannel shirts all the time. I guess it's different.

I've gotta go with cotton and a high thread count. They breathe and are easy to maintain.

Cotton. But depending on where I am, Flannel in the winter is nice.

At least a 400-600 TC cotton sheets...
Flannel in the winter, but we live in the Midwest and it gets crazy cold in our house

Flannel sheets and flannel shirts feel totally different to me, too. And I can see why your Man wouldn't like them---they're combed more finely, I think.

Nevetheless, I grew up in a chilly part of the country, and I'm always cold at night if I haven't got flannel sheets (or 5+comforters to make up for cotton ones).

Cotton

I have some satin sheets that I just love. Well, I love the way they feel against my skin. When I was sleeping alone I just tucked all the sheets/blankets in around the bottom of the bed and the side I didn't sleep on. That way they didn't just fall right off the bed and I could easily pull them back where they were supposed to be when they did start falling.
Jersey knit cotton is another huge favorite of mine, it's nice and cool in the summer. And I just love flannel in the winter. Pretty much anything that's soft and comfortable will win me over.
Has anybody ever experienced sheets/pillow cases made out of bamboo or eucalyptus? I've felt some and omg, they're about as soft as satin without the sheen that makes the sheets repel each other!

Flannel in the winter, definitely. Other than that, cotton or a blend. I think satin sheets are cool, but they're way too slippery to actually sleep on for me.
04/20/2011
I. Love. Flannel. I have a bit of an obsession with flannel in general, and this also includes my sheets. They're such a comforting material.
04/20/2011
Cotton, with at least a 250 thread count.
04/20/2011
I use some very soft flannel sheets.
04/21/2011
I adore nice, crisp high thread count cotton
04/21/2011
i use cotton but love other fabrics, i wish i had velvet sheets those would be fun, maybe i should just buy a bunch of velvet and make a sheet
04/21/2011
Cotton, but sometimes the skin on my feet becomes too sensitive for it, so I have to moisturize it before getting into bed.

Anything less than 300 TC sheets are like paper towels to me. Someday I would LOVE to have 1000+ TC sheets...as sinful as swearing in French.
04/21/2011
I have satin at the moment, but I'm wanting to buy silk when I have 400 dollars I can throw out on nice sheets!
04/21/2011
I love sleeping on deep colored sheets. It puts me in a dark start.
