My parents have 7 cats, 2 are officially mine but because they're used to going outside, none of them would be able to adapt to my apartment. And I don't want to adopt another one because there's always the possibility that I'll be going back to Washington state. (I'm the type of person who believes a pet is a lifetime commitment...thats why I brought one cat from WA to my parents home.)

My son has a fish. I would like a cat or dog but not trying to pay a pet fee each month and deposit if they mess up the place, it's just to much on top of taking care of them as well.

A dog, a fish named Frost, and my pride and joy--Onyx. He's a rabbit and just the cutest thing ever. I hate being away from him during school.

Also, if you have owned cats and dogs or if you own both now, how do they compare in the responsibility of owning them. I like to travel a lot, but I really want a dog. So any recommendations or opinions are appreciated.
