What Kind of Gamer Are You?

Contributor: Ansley Ansley
When it comes to games that are really involved and have a lot of side quests and things to collect, do you have to fight the urge to keep starting over? Or do fly through the game trying to get to the end?

I'm playing Dragon Age: Origins right now and even though I know that I have to sit through six hours of cut scenes, I can't help but want to start over because I missed something or learned a better way of doing it after the fact. It's a good way to kill time, at least.

What kind of games would you play at a sex toy party?
I'm thinking about having one, and I'm not sure what kind of games to play, that would be fun, but also possibly informative. Any ideas?

I like RPG games but I also like a few shooter like Halo

I always do all the side quests (if possible) and level up my characters to the top level, etc. I feel like I didn't really complete the game otherwise.

I usually play RPG twice (or even more, if I really like it). During the first time I mainly pay attention to the storyline and gameplay and I don't bother about missed side quests or wrong decisions. I'm moving straight to the end of the game.

The second pass is much longer, and the aim is to visit every location, to complete every quest, to resolve every puzzle, to achieve maximum level etc. This time I let myself to use a walkthrough to ensure that I didn't miss anything.

And then I may start that game once more, choosing a different character, class, specialization, alignment... but it must be a really good game.

As for DA:Origins, I 'm on my second pass now. This game is huge!

Same here. I try to do all the side-quests. Though if I miss one, I won't restart it all over again. I'd just play again, afterwards!

I'm the "I have to do all the side quests and collect 99 of every item." gamer. It takes me forever to play through games. Haha! Final Fantasy is the worst for me because of this. There are so many items everywhere and so many mini-games and things to do.

I don't really play games, but if I did, I would probably be like you. I would have to do all the side quests and collect every single item. The last game I played was Portal, and I kept trying to do all sorts of things with the portal gun and all the objects I could pick up. I didn't really do very well with the game, but I had a lot of fun trying to do every weird thing I could think of.

I'm basically the 'Completionist'. I try to focus on the main story, but if there's a Side Quest then I try to place it where I think it falls in the story. Mini-games and secrete items don't tempt me too much, unless there's an AWESOME upgrade I absolutely NEED.

I play as long as it stays fun. After a game has gone on for hours too long, then it is boring to me. Ofcourse there are a few that I keep playing over and over again. Fable 2 and 3 are a good example of games I keep going back and playing. GTA 3 or 4 is a good example of games that are fun for a while, then get boring because there is so much to do you cant beat the game

I try to get everything and complete all the side quests. I typically have GameFAQS up or a buy a game guide just so I can get everything. I'm less concerned with getting to the end than I am with getting EVERYTHING. I'm OCD, what can I say~

Hubby used to be a huge gamer. He played in a world ranked Warcraft guild for almost 4 years. It just got to be too much of a time constraint to balance that, work and married life. I know he misses it sometimes but since we had our daughter, she's his life anyways! It's a win win.

Now though, he still plays his PS3 a little. Mostly Uncharted.
