Do you try and remain friends? Hate their guts? What is you average relationship (or lack there of) with exes?

How do you cope? Is it dependent on how the relationship ended? Or how have some exes reacted to you? How do you respond if you bump into them?

Honestly I prefer to stay friends or at least be polite to my exes, why start unnecessary drama if it ended in a fairly amiable manner?

I'd prefer to stay friends after a cooling off period. But if they make it clear that that's not wanted, I'm gone like a ghost.

I've always tried to remain friends and respectful, but... Well, most of my exes have been complete psychos, buddying up to me and being really friendly one minute, and then writing really nasty things about me behind my back on their blog. So, yeah, that's kind of frustrating, but nonetheless I've always tried to remain civil with them. :/

Usually I just cut off all ties immediately and have no interest in staying friends. I have come back in contact with literally only a few, and even then, we don't have anything to talk about so it doesn't matter. The rest I would be completely uncomfortable running into, and probably hide if I ever saw them.

Depends, one ex I was friends with for years beforehand so we were able to get back into that pattern after. But most of the time I just disappear and do not interact with them. Though I am pleasant when I run into them.

Same here. I'm friends with about half of my exes, the rest I have no contact with, but I don't think it would be awkward if we ran into each other or anything like that.

I don't have any -exs...I was monogamous with Sigel until Arch came along!

It really depends on how the relationship ended and how I felt about it. If he fucked me over.. I will fuck with him x10 harder and make his life a living hell. If we ended it because it was just not working.. then I will be their friend. I am super vindictive. I'm friends with most of my ex's but one and I did make his life a living hell. It was great. He deserved it.

Like others have said, it depends on the ex. I believe everyone needs a separation time afterwards, no matter how well the break up was. I have a few exes who share mutual friends with me, so we were nice to each other when I lived in the area. One we just kind of separated and that was that, the worst I ended up moving because of.

It depends on the ex. I'm still very good friends with my first ex. One pulled a ghost on me, and the next abused me for years, then disappeared without a trace, sending me into a near nervous breakdown. I did do some e-stalking of him, since he promised to get in contact with me and talk things over, and I wanted to find out where the hell he was.

Nearly all of my Ex(s) have been Verrückte Frauen (I really like that song by Lüül) in one way or another. As such it's really best that I NOT try to stay in contact. My current and I hope permanent Partner really breaks the Crazy Girlfriend habit that I'd had.

It depends. If they were really horrible to me, then I just vanished from their life. If they were horrible, but made me feel like they really felt bad a while later, I'll talk to them occasionally. Pretty much, I'll maintain contact if they earn forgiveness. Otherwise, I usually just drop out of their lives.
