I was thinking about this earlier in the week. I was moving from one apartment to another and was borrowing a car from my boyfriend's family. I haven't owned a car since I was about 17 and I live in a city with a great transit system as well as many bike paths. It's very easy to live in Minneapolis without a car if you live in the area that I do. I can get anywhere I need by walking, biking or taking public transit. So what are your thoughts on this? If 'other' please explain!
What is your preferred mode of transportation?

I drive myself around, we don't have a great transit system in my town.

Same here. I live on the hill and driving is my only means of transportation.

I live in the NYC 'burbs. The public transportation network here is pretty good — if you're going to the city. Otherwise, it's tough to get around without a car. Still, I only put about 1500 miles on mine last year.
We're fortunate to live within a mile of shops, and within 3 miles of the metro rail (NJ Transit). I ride my bike a lot more than I drive.

Riding the bus is not my preferred mode but it is what I do for now because I do not have a vehicle. That or I walk if it is in distance.

I would actually like to take a bus if they were more user friendly. They don't run late enough for most jobs and it is hard to carry many groceries home on one. Some times you would have to take two or three different ones to get there and then home. So just use car.

I enjoy diving honestly, and its often my main mode of transportation, however if my bike was in proper riding condition i would be using it more often, but walking is fine for now.

My job requires me to drive (average 60,000 miles a year).

I live out in the country, so we have to drive when we want to go somewhere.

I walk everywhere
05/20/2013
Driving. I live in the suburbs, and I'm not particularly close to anything, so walking or biking isn't really an option.

I drive. And when I'm going to certain places ride the ferry and busses.
I had a bike. I miss having a bike. But I'm not comfortable with the thought of riding where I live.

Drive. The towns are greatly spread out and there is NO public transport or taxi/bus services.

I usually take the bus, but it doesn't take me everywhere I need to go. Sometimes I have to walk 10 blocks or so to get to a bus stop I need or bike farther.

Driving is costly and stressful, I'm a big fan of public transportation!

I walk

I mostly drive.

Thanks for all of the responses guys! It's neat to gain some insight as to how people get around. It's not something a lot of us think about in our days unless transportation becomes an issue. I love walking all over the place because it's quick, easy and free exercise!

Driving my car. That is the best for me.

Walk if it's close or the weather is poor. Otherwise, I take the car.

I drive. We have an awful public transportation system in my city, and because of this I don't feel safe using it. I prefer being responsible for my own commute. In a big city like mine, a car is a necessity!

i live to far from most places to walk
05/21/2013
Drive, but if I'm with someone else, I prefer them to do it.

My preferred method of transportation is teleportation or space travel.
Other than that? I walk. Everywhere I can. And other than that? A very roomy and comfortable drive... not low to the ground, but up almost truck height with oodles of leg room.
