What is your "go to" pain reliever?

Contributor: Bignuf Bignuf
I tend to grab Advil Liquid Gels. Most of my pain is muscular or swelling....so it works fast and effectively for me. What do you use?

I really do not tolerate severe pain very well, so when it's bad enough that I'd take anything, it'll more likely be a prescription pain medication.

Advil or generic

For headaches I take BC powders....I don't take otc medicines for other pains unless they're really severe, in which case I probably have a prescription.

Advil. I usually get the liquid gels if I can find them, though I always keep the solid/regular ones in my car.

For me it used to be Advil, but it did a number on my stomach, so now all I get is Tylenol. It's wimpy.

For bad pain (like kidney stones), I take my Lortabs! It's not wimpy!

I used to take Tylenol, but lately it hasn't been strong enough for me. So, lately, it's been Ibuprofen.

Depends on the pain. If it's menstrual cramps then I start with my heating pad, then red raspberry leaf tea, and then if I still feel like crap I take ibuprofen. For a stress headache I try different essential oils like lavender or jasmine. So really it totally depends on the different type of pain.

My go to cure for a headache is a warm compress, or a hot bath.

I usually take some brand of ibuprofen but since I've been getting so many headaches recently I think I'm developing a slight tolerance for it because it doesn't seem to be working as well anymore And Tylenol doesn't really help too much either, so I don't know what I'm going to do now.

I don't take medications. I very rarely will take anything prescribed from my Dr or over the counter. I have to be in a lot of pain or really sick. Otherwise, I am toughing it out. If I have a headache, upset stomach, back pain, PMS, or anything of the like...I take a few bowl hits of my sweet herb and I am giggling and forgetting what is wrong with me within minutes. If I am too sick...then it makes me fall asleep after I eat and drink a little. So, it's my cure all. Of course, I can't use it for everything (infection), but it's my preferred pain reliever.

I don't take anything normally; a hot bath, a bunch of water and a nap fix most things. If it's really bad and I've got stuff to do I'll take Motrin or Ibuprofen.

When I need pain relief - which is rare, I prefer Aleve, but will take Motrin/Advil if the Aleve is not available.

I just use ibuprofen as well, but rarely. Most of my pain aside from cramps (which it doesn't work for, sadly) tends to come from headaches, which generally means I missed a meal or a med.
