What is your backup plan...when the power goes out?

Rain, Snow, Sleet...all can make the power go POOF. Seems it happens for longer periods now too.

How well prepared is your home for blackouts? What do you do to keep food cold, your meals hot, your information flowing and your eyes able to see?

Fireplace for heat. Propane camp stove for hot meals. Plenty of canned good and water on hand.

We have candles and flashlights. After I set those up I read by candle light to amuse myself.

My DS and some candles. We have a fireplace too and the stove is a gas stove so we don't have to worry about cooking

I have a generator that we have used on two occasions when we lost power for several days.

Hurricane supplies. And dad has a generator and converter set-up to power the house.

internet runs on a battery, spare batteries for computers, cell phones are always charged and we can check the internet on those too. we can use the wood stove if needed and we have TONS of candles including the flame-less battery powered ones.

Flash lights, battery operated lanterns (no candles, due to the parrot), battery operated radios, cell phones, and the laptop can run on battery power several hours to watch DVDs. Or... just have sex.

I usually just take a nap and sleep it off. I don't have plans for extended periods of no power, except maybe find somewhere else to stay.

I have a supply of Tap lights and batteries. Blackouts aren't common in our area, and they're don't last very long.
