A street name or odonym is an identifying name given to a street. Names are often given in a two-part form: an individual name known as the specific, and an indicator of the type of street, known as the generic. Some addresses also contain special codes to aid routing of mail and packages, such as a ZIP code or post code.

I would street but the funny thing to that is the two houses i've owned were on Avenue's. But I believe I've seen more streets than anything.

Every road in town is a Street. Also, traveling--there are more Street's than anything else do far...will look on the way back though!!

hmmm ... i live in a rural / suburban area now, pretty much everything is a "rd". i used to live in a metro area for years and years and then everything was a "st"

doesn't that generic indicator have something to do with the length of it?

like lanes are just a few houses, drives are just a few blocks, streets are even more blocks, and roads are more length but less houses? i don't know ... i thought i saw something about this a while back
