What foods do you take on a road trip?

My son is going on an extended weekend road trip. The group is planning on eating out only twice in the 4 days. We packed sandwich fixings, beef jerky, trail mix, pb crackers, oranges, bananas, granola bars, along with the required junk food-chips, cookies, chocolate, etc.

What is your favorite thing to munch on while on the road?

Bagels, favorite drinks in an ice chest for the car, cereal or instant oatmeal are great for quick breakfasts, ziplocks or grocery bags to use for trash in the car.

I always bring a big bag of baby carrots (chewing on something helps me keep alert, and they're one of the few things that don't have too many hundreds of calories, but also don't become acidic after a while of eating them.

A box of either frosted mini wheats or cheerios is usually on the passenger seat as well, for carbohydrates that are too dry for me to want to reach over and eat them unless I'm actually hungry.

I also usually bring a bottle of kefir for sipping some protein.

And a camelback full of water.

Keeping fresh breath on a road trip is apparently kind of important to me, too.

For a long ride, I tend to just stock up on junk food - cookies, M&Ms, whatever I see at the store that looks tasty, and I usually start off by having a meal when leaving.

For something longer, I've brought a small camp stove and done canned food.

My dad always takes a box of Cheez-Its and a jar of instant coffee with a jug of water.

I prefer to take apples, granola or meal replacement bars, tea, and Swiss Rolls. >_<
