I'm drinking my wine out of the bottle (I hate wasting water to wash a glass) & I was wondering how many others do the same
What do you think about drinking from the bottle?

I do it all the time. None of my friends like wine, so I'm the only one who drinks it if I have it. I'm not very classy to begin with though.

Is this only about wine? Obviously it's more socially acceptable to drink beer out of bottles. For wine, a single serving bottle I guess is ok... or if a large bottle has only some left. But opening a large bottle and drinking straight? Kinda gross. I hesitate to say trashy, but definitely impolite.

I like mine in a wine glass; the empty bottle needs to be rinsed and recycled anyway.

All the time as long as I'm not sharing. Typically when I open a bottle of wine I'm gonna be drinking the whole bottle, so it only makes sense.

we rinse and put on the shelf if its a bottle we don't have
if we have it already we rinse and collect them to put out once week for our local homeless so they can return them and get the 5 cents

It depends on how heavy the bottle is, honestly. I would rather just drink it from the bottle if it's light enough. If it makes me a little white trashy? Well, let me walk out of my trailer house with my SO in his wife beater tank top, toting a baby on my hip and say "I don't give a crap!"
(I don't really live in a trailer house, have a SO, let alone one in a tank top and my baby is too big to carry. I just wanted to be funny.)

It depends who I'm drinking with.
I do prefer to drink straight from the bottle though -- I hate having to do extra dishes.

I rarely ever drink a little, and I don't drink anything what is consumed that way. Once in a blue moon I have a beer in the summer when the weather is that hot, and that's the only case when I drink from the bottle. (And it depends on my mood and the place too.)

Back in the day when it was part of hanging out with all the other rockers I did try to keep the pace with them and could drink pretty ok, and I never minded to drink from bottles, even when we all shared it...
Nowadays I pretty much never drink, can't stand it, don't like it, don't miss it at all, and aaaaaaaaam totally fine with it! ^^

Excuse me if I sound like a snob, but I would never do this. Not because it's "gross", but I take my wine drinking seriously. I like to smell it, analyze it, all that. Drinking wine out of the bottle would be akin to eating filet mignon off paper plates. :-/

Always drink beer from bottles unless served in a cup, but only wine from a bottle if there isn't much left. Otherwise, I prefer a glass. Classier, and red wine (though I hate that) tastes better if you swirl it around in your glass.

I don't drink anything out of the bottle. But I'm not a fan of just straight alcohol; I mix mine. I have never tried wine though but I don't see a problem as long as it is yours.
