What do you like on your salad?

I love chicken salads. Lately I've decided to get on a chicken salad diet and have been looking for unique salads too make. Does anyone have a salad fun recipe they can share? I love my salads with either feta cheese, blue cheese, or cheddar cheese. Some dressings I like are Italian dressing, French dressing, and caesar dressing. I have to have croutons, sliced tomatoes, and sliced red onion in my salads. Yesterday I made a salad with baby romaine and I put diced avocado in it. I also put sliced tomatoes, sliced red onions, feta cheese, caesar dressing, and caesar premium croutons(just discovered these two days ago and they are DELICIOS). My salad was delicious.

So how about you?

I love toasting chopped walnuts, chopped pecans, or almond slices and topping a salad with them. I also reeeeally love bleu cheese but I can't afford it every time. If I spring for bleu cheese, I'll often also use dried fruit... otherwise I'll use some croutons I make with some Ethiopian spices (because it's not good unless my mouth is burning? Antipova, you're weird.)

Anyway, I think you just inspired me to have a salad for lunch.

I have had sunflower seeds in my salad before but never tried walnuts, almonds, or pecans. Great idea! My mom likes her salad with dried cranberries but I'm not a big fan of dried fruit. Maybe I should start being more open to it. Thanks!

I'm glad I inspired you to have a salad today. Blue cheese is the best!

I like simple salads when I make them. I don't like raw tomato or raw onion or cucumbers and I'm allergic to nuts, so, I keep it simple...

Chopped romaine with some spinach tossed in and maybe a grated or shredded carrot, in a homemade balsamic or red wine (or both!) vinaigrette. Feta or parmesan (or both!) cheese. I usually don't do croutons simply because my homemade bread goes so fast around here, but if I have the option, I do like croutons.

I generally don't use bottled dressings, since they're kind of loaded with icky stuff. If I have to have a bottled-type dressing, I'll just make some thousand island or Russian.

tomato, grated cheese, hard boiled eggs, peas, shredded carrots, grilled chicken, and of course lettuce.

Dressing- I use either ranch, thousand island, or Italian.
