A lot of folks here know about our "free speech" Friday night dinner group. Dinner at some local restaurant, then dessert at one of our sixteen couples homes where any topic is "on the table" and sex/relationships usually reigns. However, this past Friday things got "hot" and not in a good way. Twelve couples and twelve different opinions on politics, but one thing was clear, there is little "middle ground" anymore. People seem more passionately "conservative" or "liberal", even though we all seem to agree on some basics, on the "sharp points" (Health Care, Schools, Taxes), there was zero middle ground. We ended up "calling it a night" way earlier then usual and some tempers still fired up (with chittering phone calls..."can you believe she said...?), on Sunday even! Even after we agreed to disagree, I can see there might be some tension still in the air this Friday.
So, what do you and your friends fuss and argue about with each other?
