Against the grain. I'm Mediterranean and have fairly thick course hair. If I shave with the grain I'm just.... combing it. It won't cut when shaved with the grain.

I even shave this way in the pubic region. If I didn't, it wouldn't be worth shaving as the hair would not come off.

Generally upwards, against the grain of hair growth. Get a closer shave that way! (Which means I can wait longer til the next time!)

Upward (against the grain). I know it's bad, but you just can't get as close a shave with the grain, and I wear a lot of dresses and skirts.
