What did you do over Labor Day weekend?

Contributor: Gary Gary
Hello Everyone!

I was about to start looking through the forums and start to catch up on everything I missed. Then I thought what would be a better way for us all to catch up together.

I took a few days off last week and had a 5 day weekend which was awesome! (I took off from both jobs!) Victoria and I made 4 trips to Lowes and spent most of the weekend building in wall shelving units for our living room. One floor to ceiling entertainment center type shelf, and another floor to ceiling mega ultra book shelf. It was a lot of work but a lot of fun.

On her way back from a trim run, she got me a Slurpee in one of the plastic Gene Simmons - Kiss collectors cups. That was so cool! We also watched Eastbound and Down season 01, and Squidbillies season 03. All in all I would say that it was a great weekend!

So what did you do?

I spent most of Labor Day weekend moving into the new dorm and getting situated for this semester's classes. It involved a lot of wandering around and getting lost. I also got to see the boyfriend for a little bit, so that was nice Mostly, though, it was organizing stuff and trying not to freak out. Gary's & Victoria's weekend sounds much more relaxing!

You guys worked, too. Sounds like you got a lot done, too. So much to do before winter.

My Man spent most of his 5 day holiday either at the hardware store, buying stuff for the roof and siding of our outbuildings or UP on the roof of the outbuildings, repairing and sealing and then painting the trim and the siding of the buildings.

We did have a break and went to a BBQ with friends. It was mostly the guy's family, (the woman doesn't have much family to speak of) and it was OK. They have a toddler, and he's a blast to hang out with. He spent most of the afternoon alternating between wanting to sit on "Auntie Gelli's" lap (me) and running away so he wouldn't fall asleep. My kids stopped by....for the free food.

I was hoping we would have a family outing, but My Man was in "Work Mode" the whole time, it didn't happen.

Monday morning, I'm lying in bed going, "Hey c'mere." And he was already showered and dressed and up and ready to work on the damn roof by 6:30 AM. *sigh*

Oh, and one of the nights he let me pick the movie. I picked A Single Man the IFC movie, about the man whose gay lover dies. (With Julliane Moore and the dude who played Mr. Darcy in Pride and Prejudice and Mr. Darcy in Bridget Jones's Diary. My Man spent parts of the movie taking "breaks" for cigarettes, while peeking over the door, because he was curious, but was trying to be cool. (eye roll) I thought it was an excellent movie, he said "It was OK. I pick the next one. Why do I let you pick the movies? It's always something weird when you I let you."

Cut some wood to finish our supply for winter, took the kids for a four hour ride on the 4 wheelers and finished the school supply list shopping. I also did a review and enjoyed my new flip hole. I also did some testing of lubes.

All in all a good weekend.

Had a lovely 4 day weekend which consisted of getting ready for the new school year (I am a teacher) and trying to squeeze in a few more summer time activities! We spent a day Geocaching with the pooch...one of our favorite outside activities which luckily lasts us well into the fall....and then later that night took in a triple feature at the drive in. Went to a family BBQ and played some poker, and then did some back to school clothes shopping...all in all a nice relaxing weekend!

It rained pretty bad here in the evenings, but it was pleasant to hear the rain on the roof and windows.

I began baking cookies for the EF staff.

I ordered my next assignment.

I ordered a wedding present for some friends getting married in October - I still need to put the package together before I mail it to them.

I got my paperwork together to prove to my college that I've been living in FL since last October instead of what my driver's license says (because I couldn't afford to get it until I got my tax return in February).

I found part of a Myott fine china set ('Royal York' pattern) for cheap at the thrift store - a single replacement plate costs as much as the third of the set I bought! (This same visit also allowed me to do a total random act of kindness - people have helped me before, so I was glad to help another in the same capacity.)

Fairly nice, if just unbelievably hot. After having lived in Montana for a few years I totally expect the weather to cool way down on Labor Day weekend. Not in Florida.

I mostly enjoyed the beautiful weather here in the mid-Atlantic with the family. We also went to a farmer's market on Sunday. Glad to hear everyone had a nice weekend.

We celebrated my husbands birthday (on Monday the 6th) as well as his very recent return to the U.S. after spending the last 2 years serving/working in the Middle East. Nice dinner out, movies, hot sex.

Man, way to work your asses off on *Labor* Day weekend. Har-har.

On Saturday my husband and I took the kids to Rehoboth Beach, DE for a beach day, and then to Ocean City, MD for dinner at a seafood buffet and then some time on the boardwalk.

On Sunday we laid around and did absolutely nothing.

On Monday we went to the pool one last time.

We went to a barbeque at hubby's family in Chicago on Saturday afternoon. Then stayed home and played the rest of the time. It was great to have an extra night of fun.

I went to the bar with some old friends had a few beers and then came home. I worked on my trucks and sold one. I then went to the auction saterday night and bought a 1987 dodge ram, 2004 polaris ranger, and a 22 foot car trailer.

The rest of the weekend I chilled with the family. Maybe a few orgasms inbetween.

WOW that sounds like a jam packed weekend! Sounds like a happy Victoria as well having you for five whole days free from both jobs!

Arch had to work all weekend but we went to Canada's Wonderland that Tuesday, then we had dinner at a new restaurant on Friday. The rest of the weekend was uneventful unless you count arguing over who's turn it is to change the baby....
