It also depends on what purity or karat of gold a person is looking for--all the colors contain less pure gold and contain more other metals to provide the coloring.

With the price of through the roof - I'm seeing more non precious metal alternatives like high quality SS, TI, W (tungsten). I don't see buying anything gold in the foreseeable future.
