I feel for you js250. That's awful! We put flea and tick granules in the lawn every year and it seems to help some, but you have to keep pets and kids off the lawn for at least a week. Put them on lawn before a rain. Plus monthly protection pills to dogs. The fleas and ticks here are immune to Frontline and other drop type meds here now.
We have loads of freaky looking spiders where I live now. I get bit at least once or twice a year by the monsters. Some bites have taken small bits of skin away and leave pits on me. My daughter got bitten by brown recluse twice on her same leg and that took huge chunks and very deeply scarred her for life. Had to rush her to emergency for treatment.
On the other side of town where I grew up there are tons of slugs. Are slugs insects or just slimy reptiles? I'll have to look that up. Ever stomped slugs while dancing on your patio barefooted? Nothing like slug toe jam! Never put your alcoholic beverages down on a slugs level either, by the time you pick it up for a drink one will be on the lip of your glass. I used to set up little beer joints around the yard in containers to kill the slugs and killed thousands that way. Slugs are slimy alcoholics and drink until they drown.
We've also seen mosquito activity here already! I think the bugs are going to outlast mankind. The more we try to poison them, the stronger they seem to get!

I hate ticks so much. I got really sick from a tick bite a few years ago! They carry all kinds of nasty infections.

Ants, mosquitos, spiders, and lots of grasshoppers. I abhor bugs, and my husband is always left to deal with them, but even he freaks out about the grasshoppers

Hornets...ants, lady bugs, grasshoppers, and your typical spiders. It doesn't help I'm scared of Hornets and Spiders T~T

Spiders and stink bugs, what fun

In southern CA there are very few bugs - because it's so dry. Mosquitos and flies are rare - but ants are pretty common - but they are easily controlled. We do have orb spiders in the fall - they make cool webs that capture the dew. I don't consider them a pest - but some may.

Black Widows (certain times of year), mosquitoes (not a lot), flies, ants, mosquito eaters, pincher bugs, gnats, bees...the list goes on. I see those bugs on a daily basis.
