fast and healthy are not the same. fast weight loss may be dangerous to the body and will be more likely to come back. increased exercise and substituting unhealthy foods with fewer quantities of healthier foods is probably the best option.

It's all about eating healthy and being active. I went into college wanting to lose the freshmen 15 rather than gain it. I so far have slimmed down 25 pounds (a lot of it from walking everywhere). You really just have to make changes you know you can stick to or else you'll end up gaining everything back just as quickly as you lost it.

I think that it's better to work at weight loss at a healthy pace, as opposed to fast. Yes, it can be gratifying to drop extra weight quickly, but it's not very good for ones body. I think one is more likely to keep the weight off if they do it gradually, as well.

I wouldn't want to lose it fast. Slower also allows your body to shrink back to the way it was (somewhat, depending on how much damage was done) rather than having a stack of loose skin.
I'm on a diet at the moment myself - started a week ago and have lost 2.2lbs already. And I haven't done any exercise yet. I give my body a couple of weeks to get use to the healthier and less quantity of food before I hit it with exercise. Last time I was on this program, I lost 50lbs in 9 months, but that was just with walking 6 days a week. If you were doing more full on exercising, for sure it would come off a little quicker.
Like me, not everyone can just change their food. I have never been one to eat a lot of high fat foods like chips, savoury pies etc. I've always been use to eating stirfries and balanced meals, but couldn't lose weight! I had to cut down my sizes and make sure I follow: 1 protein, 2 dairy, 2 fruit, 5 grains and 5 vegies each day. The only diet that truly works for me long term is Weight Watchers and it's not even really a diet, but a way of eating correctly that we should be doing anyway. I have incorporated a shake for breakfast and dinner so it allows me more actual food for lunch and to get me through the afternoon.

Having gone through this recently, and in fact still working at it, I know the fast and easy answer won't do you much good. Chances are after losing it you will pile it all back on with a bonus few pounds. There is no easy way for permanent, safe weight loss. I don't want to preach, so I'm going to suggest a few things that helped me when I began my weight loss.

- Consult your doctor and a dietician. Educate yourself on what your personal needs are and how best to meet them.
- Exercise. Take up a new sport, head along to a gym/class or start walking with friends, or do something in your own living room. I walk to work and home every day (taking a change of clothes and shoes with me) as well as play sport regularly, and do some workouts at home. (Lifting small weights, or pilates.)
- Balance your diet. Up your veges intake, reduce your portion sizes. I find using smaller plates helps me control my portions, and drinking a glass of water before each meal helps me feel fuller. Planning your meals a few days ahead can take the stress out of fixing something nutritious. Cook in bulk if possible and freeze meals to take to work for lunch, or to have on lazy days.
- Reduce your intake of alcohol, soft drinks and fruit juices. If you add sugar to your tea or coffee, reduce that too, because that stuff adds up quickly. Sip water throughout the day to keep yourself hydrated.
- Don't be a diet Nazi. Treat yourself now and then; it gives you something to look forward to. Don't beat yourself if you slip up, it's completely normal and won't ruin your life. You don't have to be perfect every day.
- Don't sacrifice quality of life for weighing less. I have girlfriends who won't go out when they are dieting, and they get quite miserable. Screw that! Go out to dinner with friends, go dancing with the girls. Plan ahead and you can incorporate that into your diet plan. Dancing is GREAT exercise, so long as it's not dancing fuelled by 6 cocktails.
- The number on the scales is not the only thing to measure progress by. Measure yourself, or take note of the fit of your clothes. You'll be surprised how much you can shrink while only losing a little bit of weight.
Finding the right balance for you will take time. But a change of lifestyle will mean you can lose the weight safely and keep it off.

I need to join you with that. But that does mean less time on Eden.

Some helpful tips are to drink more water, and get more sleep. It's what I'm trying to do. And instead of eating cookies, I eat an orange. It keeps my hands busy, which is really important for me.

Make an exercise routine, that's an important one. That way you won't just lose weight, you'll look more fit too. Low carbs are a good way to just shed pounds, but you have to make sure you are eating enough and getting all your nutrients. Dieting isn't really that great of an idea, at least extreme dieting. But! The best piece of advice I have ever heard if you do choose to diet, is to have a cheat meal every week. That way you have something to look forward to, and it makes it so you are less likely to binge.

90% is diet, 10 is exercise. My thoughts are to find ways of building an exercise schedule into your life so that it becomes a ritual. Once ritualized, it will become easier, and your body will begin to depend on it for release. As for diet, our bodies need carbs, fats, and protein to drop pounds. One has to find what works best for themselves, but I found not eating food after 8pm, having a huge lunch but small dinner limits the calories just sitting in my belly and being turned into fat as I sleep. Eat more meals throughout the day...Think of a fire..for a fire to burn hotter (like your metabolism) you have to feed it with the right fuel and often..every 3-4 hours. Lastly, cut out soda and processed sugars ect...

Little things that help me:
I never drink my calories. So water, water, water, or sugar free drinks.
Anytime I want something sweet, I grab fruit, sugar free jell-o, some small pieces of candy or light yogurt.
Anytime I want something salty, I go for chips and salsa, pickles, or light popcorn.
Those usually suffice my cravings.
Just start off small with the whole diet thing. If you take on too much at once, it might be too overwhelming.
Good luck!!
