Heh. Between my boyfriend, my Owner, and I, we own a small arsenal. The boyfriend and I both own a dozen or so knives/swords (I'm a Rennie!), and my Owner has several firearms.

I can see where you're coming from. I've only touched a gun for the first time in my life just months ago! I always stayed away because of easy accidents. I can understand keeping one for safety. My partner and his fam know ALL about guns and have owned about every gun possible. It's for protection only and they're always kept out of sight and un loaded.

I think if it's for protection and kept unloaded and out of reach of children, then it's OK. I know unloaded means it will be harder to grab during an emergency, but it seems the safest option. I also think people should have to take a mental test and pass before owning a gun.
As for me, I really don't want a gun. I might and have been considering it. My mom has been robbed at work and held at gun point 2 times so I would love for her to carry a gun, but that's because it's clearly very needed.
I have pepper spray and a knife that I keep with me. We recently had robberies in my area which is totally unusual, but I kept my pepper spray and knife under my pillow when sleeping during the day after work. I felt safe enough. I don't think I need a gun, but if something else happened to put my life in danger, I would probably look more into it.

I'm not really a fan of guns. I have an air rifle, mainly for competitive play purposes, but also because we're on the outskirts of the city, and I view our position as more rural than urban, and so we need it for some wildlife. I also have a sword (not sharp, just for decoration) and my sister has an archery bow, again for sport.

I have one tiny inch long folding knife for protection, I would have ordered a few knives for my altar but that's a no-no here in MA for the most part.
I don't plan on ever keeping a gun in the house, there's too many kids that accidentally blow their own hand or something off with them.
I intend on being a responsible parent if I ever have kids but I know all too well that they can be really sneaky.

We are a family who hunts for our meat and also enjoys plinking at targets. If a gun is used safely, with common sense and not abused or treated as any kind of a toy it can provide protection for you. It is an inanimate object that a lot of people have abused and allowed to get into the wrong hands. I believe in protecting myself and in my right. With that said, I also feel it is a PERSONAL CHOICE matter, no one can advise another person about. However, if you are going to get one, take classes on gun safety!!! Before making your decision, please, it is easier to make up your mind for or against when you are prepared with the knowledge of making a right decision for you.

On the plus side if you keep them in the same closet as your toy box, it is unlikely that anyone will ever snoop far enough to find your toys.

I have a rapier tucked away. I also have a Celine Dion cd on pause to play, but that could be unconstitutional.

I have alot of guns. All for different purposes. I have a few for personal protection. I think everyone should have a gun for personal protection.

I also collect swords and they are displayed in my bedroom on the gun racks with the guns. Now we don't keep any guns loaded but the loads are at an easy access point for adults but any extra we keep locked. Considering we've had people break in before protecting ourselves isn't a joke but keeping the family safe needs to be done responsibly.
We also now have 3 dogs and we'll definitly know you're coming long before you even make it into the house.
