Weapons!

Contributor: Sinjo Sinjo
Now I know most of you are Lovers, not fighters who prefer the weapons of love sold on the site. However I'm curious as to how many of you own weapons. I'm not talking about guns or projectile weapons. I'm talking about traditional weapons, knives, swords, blunt weapons and the like.

Personally I own a number of bland knives, my favorite being a balisong knife, that (I'm tooting my own horn) I'm pretty good at opening and closing.

We own a couple swords and daggers, but I haven't pick anything up in ages. It's kinda one of those "loves" that seems to have died out when I got older.

yeah, same here.

I had a few different swords at different times. Even an axe.

As it stands now, I have a rapier from a wedding (decent sword) and a few big knives.

Sharp pointy things are fun to look at, but don't really have much use...until the zombie apocalypse.

Scimitar, double head battle axe, Broadsword, and some throwing axes.

Like JR saving for the apocalypse.

Interesting question - it never occurred to me to ask - but no, we have no weapons or guns for that matter. Don't get me wrong - it's not that I'm against them - I even support the 2nd amendment - those who own them are fine with me as long as they are legal.

I love ka-bars, boot knives, ditch knives, and many other fighting oriented knifes. We have a little of all of those but mainly k-bars

I have a ton(15 ish of mine and my husbands probably got 80 or more, some we innherated) of ka-bars, i love the commentrive ones.

I love tomahauks by american thomohauk. There great products a little pricey but They are some of the best weapons I have used. They are by far A lifesaver.

Ime pretty good at using a commanchee long in place of a gun when you run out of ammo.........(not to toot my own horn) lol....Ive had 4 of them and now only have one

Why not just try a switchblade...???and you wont have to wory about opening and closing or go to a fixed blade cause there alot more dependable

I prefer my Balisong for it's finesse and intimidation factor. While and joe or jane doe can pull a knife out out of a sheath or boot, some one who has a balisong can whip it out, do a quick motion and have it in offensive or defensive stance. Like I said before, intimidation is a huge factor too. Not to mention the variety of balisong style is larger the most any other knife. My personal favourite is this one link , simply beautiful!

varies state to state, I think.

Where I used to live, a person could walk around with a sword strapped to their back and it'd be legal. It's when they tried to hide it is when it became illegal.

My ex has a small collection of medieval reproduction knives and axes that were all on pretty little display stands. I had one butterfly knife (that I bought in PA - illegal in NJ) but all I ever did was slice the top of my knuckles because I have zero coordination so I got rid of it. My current boyfriend has a crossbow, a compound bow, and a few guns, but all only for hunting purposes - all legal, registered, permitted, etc.

I don't have any, but I support those who do Well, that's not entirely true, I have a hunting-grade compound bow, and hunting arrowheads, but no arrows in the apartment.

I think I'd like to have a few weapons in the house but at the current time I'm not comfortable enough with my skill level to be confident I wouldn't hurt myself trying to defend my household, so I'm staying weapons free until I can take a defensive skills course.

Who knew some of the community were so well armed? lol I just have my trusty Buck 110 knife. If I lived alone I would most likely buy a gun for protection. I, too, am a supporter of the second amendment.

I don't have a gun in my apt., although I have considered it, but I do have a butcher knife under the mattress with part of the handle sticking out right on the side I sleep on. It may seems silly and I'm sure I'll never use it but it makes me feel better.

The laws concerning switchblades are pretty complicated and vary from state to state. Most states allow you to own them as a collector. There are also a number of different types of knives that people call switchblades, some of these are not affected by the laws.

I'm not sure what the technical name is, as I picked it up at a local swap meet, but I have a metal baton that pulls apart into two knives when you unlock it.

I have saw and heard many times were people try to deffend themselves with there own weapons and end up getting hurt.

Once again very wise choice

Hehe, fun question to see answered here.

My significant other has done a few kinds of martial arts and has acquired quite a collection of weapons. Or "martial arts training equipment" as they must be called in certain situations. Which feels silly, but really, it is highly unlikely they would be used on living creatures. Some of them are just for the fun of having, but he has trained with some of them quite a lot.

We have several types of Chinese swords, guan dao, shinai, tonfa, shuriken, throwing knives, nunchaku, bo, sai. I'm probably forgetting something.

Oh, lots of plastic and foam swords, toy guns. We have a habit of collecting those, too.

I'm a huge fan of Guan do and the styles such as bojutsu and Quanfa. Styles using the staff are some of my favorite.

Guan dao are so cool!! And big. I can hardly move ours when I have to move it. But watching the form my significant other does, it requires only a little strength and much use of momentum?

I tried learning some bo forms a few years ago, I can't recall which or much about them now...I'm not much of a martial artist myself. I have a really hard time learning them, and dance.
