You're the passenger on a long road trip. What are the best ways to kill time?

(It's multiple choice.)

Here's one that's too long to include in the poll choices as I needed to explain in case people weren't familiar with it:
The passenger scouts for and finds a nose picker, have the driver pace him. Pretend you're picking in the same way he is (or she, yes women are pickers too) while staring at them. Wait for their embarrassed reaction. It's hours of endless fun.

I'm super paranoid in the car, so I chatter nervously or sit with my eyes closed. Road trips into unfamiliar territory really set me on edge so I try to be cool by focusing on the music. It's getting both easier and harder.

I get motion sick if I try to read or do anything that takes my eyes off the horizon. I would love to sleep, but I can't seem to do it & the one time I did, I got really sick when I awoke. I can't sleep on airplanes either. Oh, how I wish I grew up when in a time when they had those back of the headrest, or ceiling mounted video screens; that would have been great!

I usually listen to audio books or music because any long car trips have been with my parents. But, I prefer to be the DRIVER! I don't usually get motion sick if I drive. And when I have driven alone, I always have music & sing along!

I know another member, Camoprincess, used to be a trucker, I wonder what she did on long road trips? If you see this Camo, would you let us know?

I'll sometimes listen to the music and enjoy the scenery; but I mostly nap -- to keep myself from nagging my husband about his bad driving habits.

I also love playing with my new sex toys--and some of the older ones!! Makes for many fun times and you definitely see new country!! (Finding a good backroad to pull off on, lol!!)

I am usually the driver, though--hubby is happy being a passenger and I do not mind driving usually.

Mostly looking at the scenery, music. I would LOVE to go on a road trip just to spend a long time looking outside a car... I find that so relaxing.

I always have a book with me on long road trips or I just play with the pup. Then again there are times I play with my phone or ereader. However now days I'm usually the driver.

OK, you got me on the sex toy one; I completely neglected to put that as a choice and totally forgot it until you mentioned it! Now, I seem to remember Kendra saying she plays with toys as the passenger on a road trip with her man.

Good to know you don't let a little thing like being the driver stop you from pulling over somewhere and having a little "break"! I'm usually so languorous after an orgasm, I would need the other person to drive, lol!

I find it best to bring along a good conversationalist. Music is fine and "Punch Buggy" can be grand, but I think having someone to talk to is great. Well, someone you have a lot in common with, I mean.

As someone who takes long road trips often a lot of these options apply to me! I tend to upload a few seasons of a show onto my ipod before leaving for a trip, as well as an aduio book or comedy talk show/stand up. These tend to take up a lot of time on the drive, and i know the driver - usually my mother - really enjoys listening along to them since i pump the audio through the car's stereo. I also listening to a lot of music, especially if i am the one driving, but i also enjoy a good audio book or stand up/radio comedy like flight of the concords or the mighty boosh. When im not driving i do really love to take in the scenery, but theres always the chance of getting such in traffic so having a craft like knitting or even a coloring book is always something to have along, as well as my DS for some on the go video games.

My last road trip was a solo drive. So I used music and singing along to keep me entertained. I'm not a huge fan of audio books.

My wife, as a passenger, likes to read novels, I prefer to gawk at the scenery and engage in conversation. I usually do most of the driving, so I get to talk a lot with her, it is especially enjoyable to share ideas on ongoing projects and reminisce over past vacations or trips, makes the time fly.

The Good part of road trips are that you do get bored, so you like do all of that you mentioned. You have long conversations, you sing to the radio, stop at random places that look interesting, sleep, talk about everyones driving, get lost and what ever else happens. It's an adventure in itself that usually turn into great stories u can tell lol.

Usually my time is taken up by amusing a fractious toddler! We usually go to NY by train and then rent a car to go to Canada to visit the young'un's father. LOOOOOONG trip!

I'm 100% of the time a passenger because my boyfriend doesn't like to be the passenger. So i have lots of down time. I often talk to him, sleep, read or play games on my phone, it gets boring though. I hate being cooped up.

@ HannahPanda, I thought the judging other drivers bit was hilarious and spot on, for me at least! I'm glad to see some others who picked it as well!

The Alphabet Game. Going from A to Z with names from the signs and stuff you see on the road.. Its fun and makes time go by..
