Video Game Recommendations

I recently, in the interest of spoiling myself, bought both a PS3 and a Wii (self control issue much, Tori?). I've gotten a few games for each but nothing I'm in love with. On my older systems I was always a big fan of the Silent Hill/Resident Evil type games. Horror RPG type. I'm fairly open to anything though except for things like COD or war-type games. Can anyone suggest games for either? I've already got GTA4, one of the Ratchet & Clank games, and Borderlands for the Playstation, and a Silent Hill game, Epic Mickey, Mario Galaxy (not thrilled) and Just Dance 2 for the Wii.

For the PS3:

Based on your Horror RPG fandom, I recommend the Bioshock franchise*. The story telling is excellent and damn scary (though as a SH/RE you may be less jumpy than I am). Both the first and second installment of Bioshock have been critical and gameplayer darlings.

I found Mirror's Edge* a lot of fun — freerunning minus the years of physical training — though it bombed with Asian and American gamers because the story telling isn't the greatest, many people objected to the E-surance look of the cut-scenes, and it's fairly short. On the other hand European gamers loved it, and you can now buy it for under $20.

In the inexpensive/low-tech category, I recommend The Last Guy*. It's Google Maps meets Zombies & Aliens meets Mazes & Puzzles.

I use my Wii mainly for exercise so I don't think my recommendations would be useful to you.

I'm not much into horror RPG games (they scare the hell out of me), but I do love RPGs. For the PS3, I suggest Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas. Very awesome, long, somewhat open ended games. Also Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. Same people that did Morrowind (an AMAZING game for the Xbox) and those Fallout games. They're all really amazing games that really suck you in once you start playing. Oh, and if you like puzzle games at all, you may like Portal 2. Awesome game.

For the Wii...I don't know. Mario Kart is pretty much a must if you liked any of the original ones. Aside from that, I don't play my Wii much.

I always played Jak and Daxter games... it's closest to Ratchet and Clank.

Zelda for Wii is fun, but I've been playing Zelda since I could hold a controller, so I'm a bit biased.

Mario Kart, too, is fun.

If you like horror games get Condemned 2 for PS3. That game is the scariest shit I have ever played, its right up next to Amnesia.

If you like tactics-style games, Disgaea 3 for PS3 is awesome. I would definitely go for Oblivion and the newest Elder Scrolls that's soon to come out, Skyrim.

If you've ever played any Harvest Moons, Rune Factory Frontier for Wii is awesome. Of course Zelda!

just about any of the lego games are great. Lego star wars 1, 2 or 3, lego batman is ok, lego indana jones is great, but not indana jones 2. lego harry potter is pretty fun. I would get those on the PS3. The party games on the wii are good. marrio kart wii is a great game. elder scrolls is a fun game, just be prepared to put in 100's of hours.

I love the Lego games (luke warm on Indiana Jones 2). If you're looking for really cool awesome graphics...they aren't on the Wii.

I can't wait to get a PS3 so I can get Portal 2. I just need an HDTV first.

Portal 2 is amazing. To watch or to play. I like playing multiplayer with my bf. Or just watching. Or just playing solo.
