Vent time! Transpass went missing.

A monthly transpass costs $91 right now. I got one yesterday when I went grocery shopping, and used it to go to work today.

Either I lost it going from the bus to work, or (more likely, given how frequently I check my pockets) someone took it out of my coat while it was in the break room. Had to get another... FREAKING HELL!!!

I wouldn't be nearly so pissed off if I'd gotten a week or two out of it, but at the start of the month, the cheapest option is to just get another monthly pass (weekly passes add up to about $6 more for a month's worth). If I find out someone took it, and I learn who, I'm going to break their hand and demand that they pay my bus fare for the rest of the year.

Anyone else out there in Edenland who knows my pain? Seems like more people drive than take public transportation, so hopefully none of you have had this happen. Then again, if I drove, I could have had a whole car stolen. Perspective, really.

Ouch, that's expensive. Monthly transit passes over here are around $65.

The passes are also loaded onto an area-wide RFID smart card. If I lose a card, I just cancel it online then reload my pass and credits onto another card.

Oh man, that sounds awesome! I think Septa's trying to do something like that here, but they're extremely slow to implement any changes (other than price increases, of course). If I recall, their plan is to have a payment plan involving smartphones. Since I can't afford a smart phone, that doesn't help me in the least.

I used to just get tokens, but with going to college and all that's just not financially practical anymore, and there's word that tokens are being phased out anyway.
