I just found an Info Notice from UPS on my door saying they attempted to deliver something and will try again tomorrow. The weird thing is I'm not expecting any packages. And it also says Brokerage C.O.D. due: $39.95! I don't really want to pay that much money for a mystery box. I went to the website to see if I could get any information but all I could find out was that the box came from L.A. The other thing I don't understand is that it says I can sign the back to have the package left at my house. That doesn't really make sense since I apparently owe them money and they would have no way of collecting it if they just left it there. I've never had a C.O.D. package before, I'm just supposed to give the delivery guy cash?

If it's truly c.o.d. they won't leave the package. Maybe try to call them and confirm it's c.o.d. and ask them for additional information on the sender.

Yeah, definitely get a hold of UPS. I can't think of anyone who'd pay $40 for an empty box. This could also fit the description of "suspicious package" too.

Sounds like a potential scam to me.

I figured out what it is. I requested some free samples from a company, but they're so not worth the $40 it cost to get through customs. Does anyone know if I can refuse the delivery to avoid the fee or am I still gonna be on the hook to pay for this?

I think it's acceptable for you to refuse it but you should probably call to ensure it. Return to sender or something. Redefines 'free' lol

I feel kind of bad making the company pay for it to be shipped all the way here and back and go through customs twice though.

In the future use usps if you want to avoid fee's.
