My parents own a restaurant, and we go through a TON of wine bottles. Rather than letting them all go to the landfill, I decided to save them and re-sell them at a much lower cost than brand new bottles to local people (you'd be surprised how many midwesterners apparently make their own wine!) It may not be much--$25 per 10 cases-but it's something, and it makes me feel good that I'm cutting down on waste.
I'm interested to hear how you guys earn a little extra cash in a tough economy. Any thoughts?
less
bg, there's a great, albeit, older book on living on less and making it on one income, from the 80s called
The Heart Has Its Own Reasons by Mary Ann Cahill. (One of the founders of La Leche League.) I read and re-read this book a million times, and as it became out of print and more outdated, I approached Mrs. Cahill (who I knew from LLL) to ask her if she wanted me to help her write a more updated version. She said, "Honey, I'm to old to rewrite anything else. But, you are welcome to update it if you like, with my blessings." Needless to say, I've never done it,
but, it is an amazing book.
Take out the outdated pictures and some of the text and it is still a good book on "Living on Less." I had this book in my hands or on my nightstand for years and years. It has so much good info in it.
It's so sad it's out of print. (Yes, the river in South America book seller has used copies.)
